I don't think for one minute Phil Parkinson would return but you never know how it would go if he returned, why couldn't his return start another legacy of sucess.

Just read a really good thread on X explaining why he'd be their favourite.

Sparks surprised a few by installing KM as caretaker manager, he looked beyond our current coaching staff. He didn’t do this by names in a hat, he sees something in him.

In turn we’ve seen it in the three games since

The players to a man are eulogising about him, and what he’s asking them to do.

The majority of fans are liking what they’re seeing.

KM talks about things in time he’d like to work on, he’s clearly got an abundance of ideas he’d like to implement.

Imaging if a new man came in and ripped up the embryonic blueprint KM so quickly employed.

Would we see the same dynamic energy we’re now witnessing

I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if our new manager is already in the dressing room.

I’d be very surprised however if KM turned it down.

Some on here suggested a DoF to work with him for the more admin side of management, not a bad call, if the club could afford it.

Because I get the impression KM’s comfort zone is very much hands on with the players, and his forte is on the training pitch.

You mean because at the time he believed Edin, that turned out well, I would hope if there was an ounce of truth in the rumour Rupp would realise just what a clown he looked during that bad piece of business with Rahic.
Rupp should be no where near any involvement in selection of our new manager unless he's been educating himself about lower league English football over the years he's been the custodian of our club IMO he needs to stick to the business side of owning our club.

I was thinking along similar lines tbh. Why disrupt the team again? He is doing a fine job. Jewell would be great, he played similar up and at em type of football, so no clashes.

There's a video on The Concrete Roundabout (bottom of page 9 "who would you want?") I'd put it up on here but I'm a technophobe. Now they're playing a Kiddy side who're next to bottom of the fifth tier so it has to be viewed in context. But the football is so good it is breathtaking. I knew Williamson was doing well just up the road from me but I'd no idea they were producing stuff like that.

The thing that would worry me is that he prefers a very similar possession based style to Hughes. Maybe it would work this time with some tweaks but I wouldn't be hugely confident.

It's exactly the style Hughes tried, and failed with.

What that clip doesn't show however is how many times they been caught out and gifted chances to the opposition. I'm betting it's at least treble than the amount of strikes they've had at goal when starting in their own 6 yard box like that.

He hardly endorsed it either… can’t see it. Would love it to be true and exactly what is needed but I think it’s rubbish.

Spot on. Its about purpose and intensity. That's what was lacking. You can be possession based but front foot and more vertical/direct with how you use the ball. It really only needed tweaking a bit rather than ripping up, but Hughes was unable or unwilling to change. Even the tweaks on goal kicks and set pieces is already making a difference. I don't aimless long ball any more than aimless possession.

The style Hughes wants to play is similar to Brighton. Possession based, back foot football to draw the opposition out. The problem is, defenders at this level aren't as comfortable being pressed, and for it to work you need to be able to shift if through the lines when gaps open. Again, players at this level just can't do it in the same way. But you can get on the front foot and press, and still try and play good football. At the top level, the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool are great examples. That's the sort of style- relatively speaking - we need to be working towards.

Parkinson left because he recognised the new owners didn't know what they were getting into, and 11 managers later, he's been proven absolutely right.

Unfortunately as fans we couldn't follow in PP's footsteps because we're stuck with our beloved club haha

I'd say there's a 0 % chance of Parkinson returning this decade, if ever.

I suspect every time he's a free agent when we have a vacancy, though, he'll have to say he's not interested again. At present PP is employed though, so doesn't even need to turn us down.

Come on do you honestly believe he would leave an upwardly mobile club.. probably on a very very good salary. To rejoin this circus.. no way, he’s got better resources, players, structure all in place to succeed.
