Now you see, in my opinion, we should be looking to bring in a central defender with more mobility than the others on our books, and crucially a centre back comfortable playing in a 3. Kelly, Stubbs, Platt and Taylor fighting it out for the other 2 slots.

I said a couple of weeks ago Odusina will be snubbed by Hughes, in the same way Jake Young was, and will never play for us again. I just wish I knew why

Because Young isn’t good enough. ? I have no interest in the fact he scored yesterday……

His attitude certainly wasn't if stories are to be believed.

Ironically though, he may actually fit better into this new system.

He has talent IMO. Im not even sure he has a bad attitude - I just think him and Hughes clashed.

Did well at FGR (not forgetting he was only 19).

Respectfully, that's just your view. Bad as it sounds to write it but either of them may feel they're just one injury away from a run on the team.

He'll be a decent league two striker/forward in my view. Has enough pace and trickery to do well. He's certainly better than Patrick and Patrick has done OK for himself.

He might Dave but I don’t think he worked hard enough tbh.

For me his lack of pace was quite apparent. Swindon fans will find they have a player who, because he scores the odd cracking goal from the left edge of the box, will leave fans saying 'theres a player there somewhere' but will ultimately be frustrated as he has little else.

    Hendrie is 2.
    East is 2 maybe 3.
    Odusina is 1.

IMO of course. But if we strengthen further in the next few weeks its either move or rot.

I can't see us bringing any more players in other than maybe one loan player or something. Just doesn't seem like there's the urgency to do it so it seems Hughes is happy with what he's got.

I don't know enough about Young to say if he's good enough or not.

Good luck to him, he's got a good opportunity at Swindon. If he messed this up, that's two huge opportunities in a row he's fluffed, and that will tell me he isn't a pro and it's not just his relationship with Hughes.

Jake Young cannot afford to fail this time.

Newcastle are at it too. To get round FFP they "sold" Saint-Maximin to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli for £30 M.
That £30 M allowed them to buy Barnes, Livramento & Tonali for £120 M
The players coming in are signing long contracts, where the fee is amoritsed over the contract period. In effect if they are signing 4 year deals then the £120 M shows as £30 M per season, so £30 M from Sales, £30 M out on purchases.
Whether Saint-Maximin is worth £ 30 M is debatable but Al Ahli paid it.
    Co-incidently PIF own both clubs

I'm chalking it under the false category, but there's sod all else rumours out there so might as well put it here. Apparently a few national league north clubs but only one named was Darlington have enquired about our teenagers to take on loan, but the club have said all will be available but not until after the window shuts as we might need cover still. So probably mid September time at a guess, some of the youth might end up going out for experience.

The sport washing with limitless Oil funds will hurt someone soon. The transfer “ fees” and salaries being paid to players is soundly akin to money laundering. Anyone know a guy called Abromovich by any chance, that’s where it began ? You don’t have to look far to understand it is not only Sky money swilling through the top 22 clubs in the UK added to those clubs jointly owned in Europe. One owner or indeed one country owning multiple clubs is designed to cheat the system.

Pretty quiet around the leagues but Gillingham have big a 6 figure fee for Salford striker Callum Hendry. Initial bid has been rejected, similar to earlier in the window when Barnsley bid a 6 figure fee for Luke Bolton rejected, Salford have said you either bid his release clause fee or we aren't interested. Hendry has a £300K release clause in his deal.

Gillingham over the weekend did sign Macauley Bonne on a free transfers after his release from Charlton. Bonne had a fantastic spell in non-league which lead to a Championship move to Charlton in the summer of 2019 where he scored 11 in 26 starts in the championship but couldn't stop Charltons relegation to L1. Moved to QPR and his form took a drop and it hasnt really recovered since, scoring just 3 times in 34 games that season, with just 12 goals since then at either QPR, Ipswich or last season when he signed a short term deal back at Charlton to try reboot his career but again didn't find form, scoring just twice in L1 and didn't even make the matchday squad for the final month. Could be a dangerous striker at L2 level, or could be another Aaron McLean who peaked in his mid 20s.

Odisuna is a strange one. Only can guess - was it because he refused to go on loan in January - and affected recruitment - not allow us to strengthen weak areas- his wages being freed up might have allowed City to sign Mcdonald for example.

In last January's window, Odusina refused a loan move back to Hartlepool. From that day his card was "marked".

Maybe. Its odd that we paid a fee for him gave him 3 year contract and he was dumped after a couple of poor displays. By all accounts he was the better of the centre backs in pre season friendlies, and then binned off again when season started
