Completely bizarre thinking, if an investor is willing to pay £2 million more than what the club is actually worth we don't want them within a million miles because they're terrible businessmen

 

Didn't Swindon clear their debt at the end of last year when their new owner came in? Fairly certain at the time I remember the new owner paid the 3 or 4 million owed.

The new owner bought their stadium back too.

 

That’s entirely possible, the balance sheet was for 22 but made grim reading . They had no assets on the sheet!

 

Swindon are struggling to get anyone in. I can’t see them doing much next season.

What is the club actually 'actually worth'? There is no right figure because it depends on so many factors.

My point was that if a couple of million pounds is a deal breaker at point of sale then the investor is unlikely to have sufficient funds to fund the club long term. How much would it take to get us into the Championship and keep us there for a sustained period? Tens of millions. Whilst a million or two isn't trivial, it is relatively insignificant to the likely amounts needed.

When Stefan Rupp understood this and realised the BS he had been spun about making money out of football, we became a club that broadly needs to pay its way.

 

Had a check in the meantime, they are debt free it seems under the new ownership from late 2022.

They also received a 6 figure fee from Fifa this summer for players leaving to play in the world cup. Looks like they are above the line for the first time in a long time.
