Also worth noting to those who say that Platt is going because he can’t play in a back three is that he’s rumoured to be going to Stockport and they also play a back three.

 

I can't see the back 3 happening with MH. He made very little attempt to play it last season.

 

he didn't really have the personnel for it. Derbyshire & Oliver were consistently injured so it stops us playing 2 up front, Our full backs are not wing backs an our wingers were all inconsistent

 

Yes Rocket Ron played for us but his twin Paul didn't.

 

I might be wrong but I think MH will play a back four, apart from late on to defend a lead.

 

Or from the 15th minute, to defend a lead.

 

Very happy with recruitment so far - definite upgrades. There will be more to leave so room for further upgrades incoming. If we play positively this season we can romp this khazi league. I am sure it was said Hughes was coming in as part of a project and this summers recruitment is starting to feel like a realised and recognised piece of that project. So let’s all keep the faith

 

With Platt I can only think they have made us an offer we can’t refuse. If the rumour is true of course

 

If that’s the case it’s unusual to get a fee these days , never mind a good one..

 

That 3 would get mullered in the air. Kelly or Taylor would be a likely starter instead of Gordon or Odusina for me.

 

Gordon is 6ft not that small

 

We got a fee for both Sutton and Faulds so we are doing well if we also get a fee for Platt

 

But Platt is 6ft and apparently, he's not tall enough.

 

He's also more of a ball playing defender if you read the quotes about him and with all 3 being around 6ft at best and Odusina seemingly already weak in the air that's a hell of a lot of work for Stubbs to do if any team continually puts the ball up high against us to a couple of big target men.

 

Incoming rumours, and most of the signings - hard to measure.
Platt - good, solid league two centre half.
Did show vulnerabilities on the turn, against pace and didn’t offer a great deal in the opposition box.
Also got a couple of daft red cards
I’d happily keep him for his steady away 7/10 every week, but there are absolutely areas of his game that we can improve on.

I do think on paper the defence looks weaker but there are a lot of unknowns Taylor looked solid in his time in Scotland and is a big unit.will we get the Scottish version or elsewhere where reports are not that good. Until we see the qualities of Gordon it’s hard to judge him. Will one or two of the=others move on and we bring another in. Only time will tell

 

Will be a mistake to let Platt go even if used as a bencher
