Spending the money did not get us relegated. It was the people who picked the players and the managers fault. Expanding the budget is not a negative, speculating to accumulate is not a negative.
We can’t keep going to that season as an example of why Rupp shouldn’t or won’t invest. It was how it was spent which was wrong, if they Extra 2 million was given to this current structure I’d argue we would be a great position.

I'd go do far to say that David Hopkins did more to get us relegated than Edin Rahic.

 

Three Managers couldn't get a tune out of those players. A lot of money spent on a very poor group.

It was totally agree terrible players poor plan and even worse structure. However I strongly believe that can’t be an excuse for Rupp to offer no further investment.

Tbf Hopkins got us playing the best football we played in a few years in December and was the only one out of 3 managers to get a tune out to that team, before bizarrely going 5 at the back against Barnsley and we never really recovered. But before that game the players showed they had something about them, a lot of that team want to be ashamed for that season but I’m sure they never gave it a second thought once they left.

 

Davo and McArdle weren't exactly known for pace, or in Davies' case, even fitness... but damn, they could defend!

Not necessarily true, Paudie O'Connor had no pace and he's a captain of a league one side. And to be fair to Stubbs he has the ability to play league one as he showed with Exeter, it's all about the team around them

 

This exactly. They knew what their job was and so did the 3 players at the side of them. With the exception of Davies, none of them were particularly gifted, they were just very honest lower league players played under a manager who knew how to get the best out of defenders.

I agree, and I think it is perfectly fair and reasonable to be negative about it because it's bloody awful.
