Now am I extremely guilty of this..can’t shake off the malaise of how shite we have been for 6 plus years. But I do fear last seasons ending is going to bleed into this season. With how hard it appears it’s going to be, what does the club need to do bring everyone together?

Crowd are going to be vital as I don’t think we will have the quality, especially compared to others.
Club need to think long and hard around Drawing a Line under the defeat.

Start of decent give it all and there won’t be any negativity. I think we will once again have a competitive Squad of players I just hope they are coached and inspired well and then there is nothing to fear

I think we'll finish top three next season. Really looking forward to it. Just got a good feeling.

Whether you are right or wrong the attitude that you've got at the moment is what we need more of. Our large following, away and at home only works for us if we are behind the team vocally. Okay if they aren't putting the effort in let them know how we feel about it but if they are putting the hard yards in let's get behind them.

Hahah absolutely… just feel those hangover comments are coming. Heard Northampton boss and Cloughie explaining how it affected before respectively.

Can we honestly say the bunch we have now are mentally tough enough to use that as inspiration. I have supper doubts.. for this team is one of the mentally weaker ones we had but with a better quality. Unfortunately you need both if this league and more of the mentality to get out of it

Probably out on a limb here but I think that comes from the top, many times this last season I have asked myself if the commitment from MH is enough, I don't know but has yet to be proven ...

Absolutely agree. I am by no means saying get rid although I wouldn’t be disappointed if he left.
I just think what motivates this guy he’s won pretty much everything as an elite player- had a plodding managerial record and made some poor moves in that space. I can’t question his hunger for us to succeed that’s up to him but that image live on sky of him sat in the dugout when Carlisle scored the winner made me think is this guy really as invested. Time Will tell.

Problem is we wasn’t competitive last season at all.

We weee never in the top 3 in a weak league and if it wasn’t for Cook’s goals we would have been midtable at best.

it’s not about the start it’s about having a degree of consistency and playing for wins. Many on here like @Bronco@Bronco @JonButterfield@JonButterfield thinking a draw against Carlisle or who ever is a good point. It isn’t.

Only wins will do. Yes, we will a draw but it’s never a good point really in poor leagues.

I doubt he'll change his style. He's a stubborn individual. He got outthought by some bog standard fourth division managers last season.

I'm not "drawn" to Valley Parade every Saturday now and pick and choose my matches.

Like a previous contributor, my enduring memory of the season was seeing his apparent indifference, sat in the dugout at Carlisle. At one stage, it looked like Hodges told him to get up and urge the team, because he immediately roused himself

Also, like the same contributor, I wouldn't be disappointed if he left. If he stays, I guess it will be more of the same.

If we all clap louder, it should make up for any shortfall in the quality of the squad against other better financially backed squads! That should work well!

The reality of course is that it won't work to any great extent. If the belief at this stage is that we won't have the quality compared to others, there is a simple solution ... increase the playing budget, spend it wisely and recruit better quality players. We have the money according to Sparks, there is a sufficient headroom in the SCMP cap based on last season's rumoured budget and it doesn't require Rupp to dip into his pockets. If we act quickly, it can be done.

Better that than looking to the likes of Gillingham, Notts County, Wrexham, Salford and probably others as they assemble their squads. They are all aiming to get promoted and rumoured in being backed by their owners. We don't have that luxury but we have done well in attracting commercial income and our overall revenues of more than £8mill will probably be the highest in the division. We have the resources to back the squad but only if Rupp and Sparks choose to do that. In my book, increasing the playing budget and assembling a higher quality squad is a much better approach than us all clapping louder. :)

No tears from me either if he decides to leave either, he helped sell a few season tickets tho
Things need to change from last season (Cookie ain't getting 30 odd goals again) and who else will step up
Can't form an opinion as yet a lot will depend on the signings we make and also the style of play we adopt all this hanging on to a slender lead has to stop, passing backwards and sidewards till we lose it and concede has to stop, providing scoring opportunities for Cook and A N Other is a must along with attacking midfield players who can chip in with goals
There is a lot to do before next season starts one thing is for sure it will be a lot harder to reach Autos/Play Offs than this
All down to Mr H now and his recruiters and style of play, next season really is sh1t or bust in every sense of the word

Last season for me was derailed by poor signings in the January transfer window, it showed when Chapman got injured and we were struggling to find a player to take his place. Hughes should have been feeding them raw meat for the last 10 games but instead we went out with a whimper.
I will however ask the question of who should be the replacement if he was sacked. We have tried all the so called experts to get us out of this league. All those calling for a change should try to look to the long term and ask themselves what progress we have made since Hughes arrived.
It’s not just about getting out of this league (though it is the priority) but looking to how we move forward as a club to create the base for the club to be successful in the future.

The year is 2040. Wrexham have just won their third Champions League trophy and Bradford are getting ready to 'go again' in league 2.
