Agreed , however on that showing he’s got something what we didn’t have for large parts of the season….a threat down the left. Curle as a defender and Hughes as a forward . I know who’s opinion I prefer . He may have got a three year deal on a cheaper monthly wage ? I don’t know, but clearly he was messed about by Curle who let’s face it .. got the sack himself.

Asked my Barnsley supporting mate if he was any good.

    His response was "who?"

Chicksen had an impressive season at Notts County scoring 10 goals. Be happy with that if Oduor can replicate that for us

And just a couple of years earlier the same people were asking 2+million for him

Yes. A lot of the posts are hilarious. And of course most of them were moaning about the signing of Wright!!

We're not desperate, at this stage. It's not as though he's only going to be the only option. It makes sense having fast players who can play in more than one position to come on as substitute - something we badly missed in the last few matches.

Considering he played for them 20 odd times in a season says an awful lot about your Barnsley “supporting” mate. His goal kept them in the CC didn’t it?

Dont think we need to worry too much about been called up for internationals. He's made the grand total of one appearance

Let’s give the lad a chance. Got a bit of pace. Didn’t work out at Hartlepool, but maybe wasn’t right player for their circumstances. Who knows. We’ve got to be realistic. And, more signings will come.

I don't agree. We've seen in the other 'best' seasons, i.e. 2013, that the players that come in quite late that have the most impact - simply because better ones become available as the pre-season unravels, as The Premiership are always slow in making signings which kicks some quality that slowly cascades down

Very good point. I don't see Foulds featuring, he's not a top end LB and certainly not a LWB. That means we're short on that side and this is decent coverage.

It's a bit of a strange comment, considering that we all got caught out by Wright - who'd been underwhelming in more than one spell at this level. I don't see any issues. We want someone we can bring on either at LB, LWB or LM during matches to alter the flow of a match, something I think Hughes has been weak on - but probably because he had no-one he could trust.

Who despite all the 'meh' comments, was still high up in all the midfield stats. If he turns out as good as him, then that's fine.

It's L2, you don't get players playing scintillating footie, you get players that fit the managers ethos.

I'm sure he'll be happy the overly positive banbrotam has already consigned him to the bench!

    Poor lad has no chance!

That's a fair point but only really applies to the loan signings. We'll be after free agents so although they may wait to compare offers, there's nothing really stopping us getting good players in if the deal is right for both parties.

I don't see more than three places been up for grabs this season. If Ridehalgh stays, he's the No.1 LB or even LWB for me - the players has rarely had a terrible game for us. Central mid is a must. Plus a strikers. Maybe RM as well.

So I do see this signing as a potential squad member. If it works out that he's excellent, great he stays in the team and he's raised the quality. If he doesn't nothing lost - as we hopefully have the steady Ridehalgh.

That's why I think he was available and seen as a useful addition to the squad. It just adds more competition as potentially there could be three 'decent' LB's all fighting for one place.

Far better than the nightmare teams of 2018 to 2021

And he's found himself in League two for a reason and not being sold for 2 million!
