Have you listened to the latest interview and kept up with contract news? At least two of our Juniors have been offered / given contracts which means , again according to the interviews, they WILL be in and among the First team squad.

Precisely what you are asking for and haven’t seemed to notice?

 

Clubs dont spend £500.000 on league 2 goalkeepers,why would you,there is no shortage of decent keepers,at all levels.

Why is it in his interest?

Joins a club in a higher division, better standard and higher wagers.

Why should he give us another year?!

 

Our youngsters get offered fit team contracts, but being first team ready is another story. Whilst we are a Cat 3 academy, our better youngsters are going to be out the door before they even even have a sniff of first team action. We might have the occasional McBurnie that slips through the net, but it's rare.

There's a bloke who sites by me who has some involvement with the setup and I remember asking last season, might have been the end of the one before but whenever the U18s had a good run if any are good and he said there weren't many that have a realistic shot but also the youth teams run was that unexpected as we were the only decent youth side in the league at the time.

There's the young striker Youmbi, who was top scorer in the youths and think he had loan or two down the semi pro route this season sounded like he was the best of the bunch.

 

Tight hamstring. Contracts mean absolutely feck all apart from that you can get some kind of fee.
No club would just allow a top player to just rot on the bench whilst paying wages……unless you’re Ronaldo and Man Utd

 

Agreed. 12 months time will be a different equation as he will only have 1 year left on his deal.
£500k with a sell on attached could be attractive.

 

Yep - her fellas as the 'marquee signing' and her face on that documentary (guarantee she will be at his contract signing) - plus Ryan and Rob following her on Twitter etc will be too good to pass up.

A lot has been said about Wells transfer and yes we didn’t do well up front but looking at how his career has panned out the total amount we banked was decent

 

His missus has over 2 million followers on Instagram, more than Rob McElhenney has. They want that image and publicity to grow and someone like that is perfect to have on the books. Her sharing a pic of him as the new signing online will have more eyes on it than one of the Hollywood owners, which doesn't make sense but that's the circus they now bring.

 

TBF Rob will always be the 'other guy' that bought with Reynolds. Id never heard of him!!!

I’m not knocking that whatever, I agreed with you re not hanging on to a player whose head has been swivelled.

 

Why would anyone “enquire” with the club about a player out of a contract? Any interested club would negotiate with the players own agent.

Bobby Pointon will be introduced into the squad over the season. He has most potential over the majority of young lads, plus Hughes always keeps tabs on him

 

Yeah he did mention Pointon also once or twice. Doesn't look like he's done as favourably on his brief loan spells. As Pointon turns 20 this season, it's probably the decision year on him as we will have to register him once he turns 21. Fingers crossed some of these lads get some minutes in pre season.

That is very satisfactory as far as I concerned. Much rather have these 3 'plumping up the squad' than wasted loans or senior wages for players that are never used.

Like Sparks said, the squad needs to be leaner and meaner this season. Quality over quantity.

 

Pretty sure there are numerous posts about youth players and talk of them moving up in this thread.

 

Ah right, tbf i've not actually listened to the interview yet so wasn't sure if he was mentioned or not

Bobby did absolutely fantastic in his first spell at Brighouse, scoring several goals and winning player of the month. Unfortunately we decided he wasn't been tested enough and recalled him, sending him straight to Farsley who played in a division higher. They limited him to appearances mostly off the bench, 4 appearances in over 2 months. Complete waste of time for him, should have remained at Brighouse
