It's not a horrendous return by any stretch and I'm hopeful we'll see the best of him next season but in fairness those numbers aren't prolific.

That would be a superb signing for Carlisle.

They've done very well to get up, but like us, aren't exactly overloaded with attacking options.

If they took Cook, he probably wouldn't be as effective, but should be able to guarantee them double figures.

Having Cook/Dennis would be a little bit League Two, but would still have the potential to net them a few next year.

I think they'd have to push the boat out to get him, so perhaps still a little unlikely, but from their perspective it would make a huge amount of sense.

superb, what a non League / L2 journeyman in a team new to L1?! L1 is a lot better standard than L2, Gregory for Wednesday as an example vs Cook, quality wise no contest tbh. Im struggling to see why Carlise would sign Cook he will be 33 this year.

    Well, it's Carlisle.

Who are you expecting them to attract?

There has to be a sense of realism here - it's probably either an on form League Two player or an off form journeyman - or, knowing Carlisle, someone significantly less proven than Cook.

Don't get me wrong, I think Carlisle's aim for next season is to stay up, and I think they might struggle - but not as badly as Forest Green, who couldn't attract anyone anywhere near as good as Cook.

I think they might struggle based on location alone. Maybe Cole Stockton might fancy moving further up the M6, but Simpson will probably look for the right characters, rather than the big name to upset the apple cart. I too could see Cook going there in all honesty. Particularly with his previous connection.

I hope he stays with us, but I wouldn’t expect him to get half the amount he scored this year, which won’t be a bad thing if others are contributing as well.

You struggle to see anything. Why should we offer him a contract then?

They would be interested in him because he offers something different to their attacking line but more importantly if they do go back down they have a player in their ranks that can score goals at that level to get them back up.

People scoffed at me last year when I said he could get 20+ goals but I truly believed it, having said that Cooky has even exceeded my expectations, not only his goals but his allround play, especially considering that he has mainly been on his own up top.
Somebody mentioned him being 33 this year, maybe that's it, his age, the penny has dropped for him that this is his time and he needs to make the most of it. I also think it was quite shrude of MH to give him a breather mid season. Cooky season could have petered out like it did last season. At the end of the day we didn't go because of lack of goals elsewhere and not shutting the back door when needed.

Andy Cook. The player who isn't very good but is also the player who can score goals to get you promoted.

The club have just posted a tweet about it being our 120th birthday today. The picture has been changed and now there is only Smallewood and Cook behind Hughes with the others cut to remove Crichlow. That to me suggests Cook has already agreed a new deal.

im struggling to see where to start replying to this.

goalscorers are hard to find, we are still in L2 and he is clearly happy here and scoring plenty of goals for us so obviously that is why. Why would Carlisle sign a player with no recent record in L1 , in his early thirties and with a view to going down thus 18-24 months down the line. They might sign him but I don't think so, I hope not.

Carlise should be more interested in Cole Stockton, out of contract, can do it at L1 level, now that would be superb signing for them.

Oh come on Fordy… Don’t go making yourself look daft all over again. I have a Nilfisk Pressure Washer in my garage, a large drive with a drainage system which I own , plenty of water and lots of village kids need spending money. I’d hardly compare myself to a successful entrepreneur and businessman , somehow you do?

    Give over.

Well considering they will have a div 1 base players if they come down then yes he could help them go back up.

    Melt.

Look, @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler is on the train. He will never admit Bradford City’s failure. The club is a failure and he’s part of it. Next train is due at 9.30am and @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler is firmly on board. Next stop let Rupp not spend money. Sustainability! Economy state or Bradford. The excuses for failure is endless!
