Because they all watch YouTube videos of continental Ultras and see them setting them off and think its cool. Plus they'll all post on social media clips of it and get 'likes' from their mates....

    Yep.

There was a video from 'around the grounds' or whatever, and the first thing in the headline of that YouTube video praising our fans was.... pyros.

I honestly think the club should be addressing issues with our own fans before writing to Rochdale about their disgusting chants.

That's for the algorithm you tube uses to get hits, buzzwords like pyro, fights, limbs etc. And it's the views that the creators are after.

Northampton fans let one off in the stand to the left of us today. So, to the blinkered people who think it’s only our fans, it isn’t!

Who are these blinkered people who think it's only our fans? I doubt that anyone is that naive. The fact that some other clubs' fans let off smoke bombs doesn't make it any less reprehensible that ours do.

Not sure what you’re insinuating there, but just for clarity, where did I say it was any less reprehensible that ours? I was merely pointing out a fact

Yes, of course it's a fact that other clubs fans sometimes set off pyros. In fact, it's a statement of the bleeding obvious. So bleeding obvious that it sounded like whataboutery - ie it doesn't matter as much because others do it as well. Why even mention other fans use of pyros if you're not trying minimise the behaviour of ours?

You said that there are blinkered people who think it's only our fans who set off pyros. I'm questioning whether any such people exist. Who on here, or anywhere else, has ever claimed that we are the only club that has this issue? I say no one.

What does make it actually worse that some of our fans throw flares and smoke bombs, is the club's fire history. Many older fans who attended the tragic game, me included, simply cannot excuse the use of pyros at matches by our supporters, for obvious reasons. Any blinkered people who make excuses for throwing pyros at our matches should understand and acknowledge that fact.

We have a history that dictates these type of pyrotechnic are not welcome at Valley Parade. If i see them elsewhere it doesn't bother me as long as its not in a pub like what happened at Rochdale. I certainly saw far worse happen at football grounds and cities in my away day travels over the decades. It is an offence in this country to use them in stadia and as such should be treat as a criminal offence but then its a trend i see all over the world at football games and with the internet its very easy for the younger generation of fans to get taken in by what happens elsewhere.

This looks like it's been let off in the away fans end. Personally doesn't bother me.

It’s also a criminal offence to stand in seated areas or smoke in the toilets but some people think rules don’t apply to them.

    Ok I’ll re-phrase.
It’s against ground regulations to persistently stand in seated areas at football stadiums.

personally I don’t really give 2 shits about pyros but it does piss me off when people stand up infront of me and my family (some of whom are children or elderly) and thus spoiling my enjoyment / view of the game in lieu of their own personal preference and enjoyment.

That's why I'd like to see safe standing rolled out across grounds, so that those who wish to sit can do so without the current issues.

Good luck trying to get a conviction for them. Far better thingw in life to complain about than someone stood up at football.

Likewise there’s more to worry about than a few pyros.
I understand that some people might be bothered by them but in the main they’re pretty harmless.

I actually agree with you on that.watching the game at Hampden today and Celtic fans have put on a huge show of pyro behind the goal so it's clear they've accepted it up there. I get why we don't like it at VP as we have a very unique history but elsewhere it genuinely doesn't bother me.

apparently SFA and Police Scotland are investigating, again. Celtic have had to close their safe standing areas previously as punishment for use of pyros

Playing devil's advocate what do people on here think of the pitch invasions after Wrexham and Plymouth. After all, if we holding to the letter of the law which some on here strictly adhere to, the 1991 Football offences act strictly prohibits the entering of the football surface unless they think they have lawful reason to do so. Guessing theres gonna be a lot of empty seats at Wrexham if we adhere to those laws to the nth degree.
