    Rahic was a freeloading chancer.
And you rightly have strong negative feeling about him.
    Agreed.

Tordoff however, you have nothing but praise & support to point of defence.
    I've no issue at all.
    Respect your honesty.

But why am I not permitted to have an opinion?
An opinion based on the man as the Chairman.
Closest I came to him, was brushing by him a few times. But firmed an opinion on what took place under his ownership.

    Why I'm upset?
As I said to the club and the independent supporters trust, prior to unveiling:

Bradford now have a memorial for the 56 who perished in the disaster of 1985.
Within the same structure, we now have a boardroom "in honour" of a man found joint 2/3rds responsible for the disaster.
A man who continued to lie publicly about what he knew about the fire risk, yet was confirmed knew in Court. But even as late as 2015, on TV, more blatent lies.

    That's why I'm upset.
And I'm aghast noone else is or will admit to being.

Can I respectfully ask what your agenda is? It's a bit strange for a poster to come on and post the questions you have in the short time you have been on the forum. Theres nothing out there to say you can't ask these sort of questions but in my time on here I've not really heard anyone have a pop at Jack Tordoff other than the questionable funding of our campaign in 87/88.

100% this, totally agree Jack doesn't even come close to that man, Bob Martin hardly covered himself in glory and although Geoffrey took us to the Premier league we almost lost our club because of his ego.

    I'm not Insinuating anything negative.
(I was blissfully ignorant for many years)
But can I assume, you're not aware of what I'm ranting about?

If you'd like, I can send private email.
No, I'm not afraid at all, to speak publicly.
Just didn't want to risk any of this vitriol rubbing off on you.

Do you think there's anything negative, attached to Jack?

Geoffrey was shocked that there was no memorial.
I respect him for correcting that.

We get that you don’t like Tordoff.
    Fine.
I’m just a bit bothered by something in your original post

“As a chairman, personally I didn't rate him at all as anything special nor did I feel he did much for the club (after initial £30k? Buying of club and stopping club winding up).”

So you don’t think he did much for the club after stopping the club from being wound up and probably going out of business.
You’ve rubbished the most important thing he did(save the club) with what appears to be a throwaway comment.

It’s a long time ago but you seem to be well informed about what happened.
I don’t remember a load of people kicking down the door to put a substantial amount of money forward to save the club.
If you know different perhaps you can enlighten us.

You are bang right about the 87/88 funding issue.
    But guess what?
    Football chairmen make mistakes.
    It happens.
But I think these mistakes are often made for the right reasons.
Once again,if you know different, enlighten us.
In your reply to @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart you say you don’t want to speak publicly.
    Why?
You’ve bothered to register for here and make lots of claims.
Have the courage of your convictions and make public “what you’re ranting about”

At the moment you just look like somebody with a hidden agenda.

I think one of the things about Jack Tordoff which differentiates him from Geoffrey Richmond, was the fact that Jack actually liked and actively supported City by coming to matches, even after he ceased to be a shareholder. He was a football man in the sense he was a high profile supporter, who actually enjoyed football.
I am quite happy to be corrected, but I am not aware that GR set foot in Valley Parade, after he sold his share. Jack was often seen at Valley Parade over the decades.
His firm has been one of the major sponsors of City for decades.
His legacy as a chairman is a bit underwhelming, but unlike others in Bob Martin 1981, and Geoffrey Richmond 2002, he actually didn’t create a financial crisis, or undermine the progress like Rahic in 2018.

It's approaching 40 years since that tragic day when so many lost their lives. It's over 18 months since JCT died. Why are you bringing all of this up again when there is little which can be done st this stage to change the events of the past?

For what it's worth, and before you jump to any other conclusion, I wasn't a personal fan of JCT. Despite that, I see little point in revisiting what has happened and cannot be undone. The time for a full inquiry into our tragedy has long since passed and no blame can be attached to Tordoff for that.

My agenda has never been hidden.

Whilst jct600 is emblazoned upon the club I support, I'll never attend another game at Valley Parade.
I'll never wear a shirt with that sponsor.

I offered privacy, as its becoming very obvious that people like yourself, lambast anyone who speaks out.

I don't see any defence of other chairman mentioned in this thread?
    Just Jack.
    Why is he Untouchable?

I would've preferred City went out of business in 1983, than suffer May 11th 1985.
Jack did help save the club.
Then was guilty of knowingly ignoring warnings that the stand was a death trap.

And yet you still both wonder why I'm angry and defend him?

    Are you serious??
Do you not have any principles whatsoever?

Jack was found 2/3rds joint responsible at the Civil Case brought.
Biggest payout in British legal history.

Through Jack Tordoffs association with the club it must have benefited running into the millions with sponsorship and other things o er the years and he was always on hand at times if need. I admit I was disappointed that nearly season when we didn’t go for it but his contribution to this club has been nothing short of brilliant.

That's not strictly correct and you need to stop throwing those allegations around. In the civil case following the fire, the club, or more specifically, the company which owned the club, was found to be 2/3rd responsible for the damages caused by the fire. It can certainly be argued that since Tordoff and Stafford were the guiding hands at the club, some responsibility should fall upon them but the civil case did not say that. It was the club's insurers, and not Tordoff's or Staffotd's insurers, acting on behalf of the club - not on behslf of Tordoff or Stafford - which accepted the 2/3rds liability.

You still haven't explained why you continue to drag this up after nearly 4 decades. We're all ears!

I believe both Jack & Stafford were joint owners when the safety issues was brought up yet you don't mention Stafford.

The one big negative for me as a fan was with regards Jack not backing Terry Dolan regards the signings of Keith Curle or Andy Townsend, fans made it quite clear at the fans forum (although Jack had signed Micky Kennedy in the January) our squad was not strong enough for our promotion run in as we depended heavily on the likes of McCall & Hendrie and the signing of Curle & Townsend would help our campaign, he did not sign them and those who were around at the time still feel had Jack financed the signing we would have been promoted.

Other than that I thank Jack and Stafford for saving our club and JCT600 for being our main sponsor for many years.

We may not have had a memorial at the ground by we did have one in the City center where we pay our respects each May, memorial 1 .jpg and a plaque on the back of the Sunwin Stand.

Jack Tordoff was an ever present at Valley Parade right until the later years of his life, even when his beloved club were being ruined under the ownership of Rupp & Rahic.

Richmond and his son David were big Leeds fans and went back to watching them.

As you say Tordoff was a lifelong fan of City.
