Win our home games draw away job done, for all the bluster from the two Newport commentators I thought we were unlucky not to come away with all three points today.

Allow me to help you. Carlisle won away from home by beating a team in the top half of the league and earning themselves 3 points to reinforce their position in the auto spots. We on the other hand drew against a team in the bottom of the league earning ourselves a single point .. or if you like dropping two important points for a team with promotion hopes.

As a consequence, Carlisle started the day 3 points ahead of us and are now 5 points ahead with one fewer games to go. But according to some, Carlisle did very little differently to ourselves!

I agree I just thought the ball going right through all those players in the box apparently Ridehalgh got the final touch, hence my poor goal comment, hardly a set piece from the training ground.

They won. The point was that looking at the match stats and text commentary - they didn't do much different to us.

Yes. Swindon are a tougher team, but it shows that this frustration with style / shots on target is irrelevant and just increases the blood pressure amongst some fans.

All season long, we've largely had a group of fans who do nothing but moan. Yet, we're as handly placed for automatic promotion as we have been for 24 seasons. I shudder to think of the mental breakdowns of the fans if the results matched their perception of how bad we are.

Very much understand your point, but Carlisle have had 3 shots on target and scored two and won today’s game, let alone sitting in 2nd place and 5 points ahead of us. The point I’m making is can you really say after today’s game that’s a performance that reeks of a team throwing everything possible at trying for automatic promotion? Is it really enough?

Walsall was a good point. Today, for me not quite the same and feel there’s more in our squad to not be in this scenario whereas a club like Carlisle who, with respect, don’t have the squad we have, are achieving more than we have.

Carlisle are five points above us and travel to Stevenage and then play us.

We've won at Stevenage, Mansfield and Salford, scoring seven goals. Carlisle recently got stuff at home by Mansfield. We didn't. Were you citing that fact, or is just the ones to suit your mindset?

It's League 2. I don't think it matters who you're playing - just look at Stevenage's recent results.

I always thought that with this three away matches in just 11 days, that two 5 points would be a good return.

I just think people need to calm down a bit - you'd think we'd lost both of these matches.

Do you think we could have done more in the last quarter to try to win our game today?

My god some of our supporters don't half whinge. We have no divine right to win football matches, we are on a pretty decent run, it could be slightly better, it could be a damn site worse.
Northampton town fans must be suicidal , they only got a point at 22nd place Hartlepool.

Other than win? So the most important thing they could have done differently to us, they did?

Just to be clear, I'm not THAT miffed today. I thought we battled well and were generally solid in difficult conditions. A solid base, which is a real plus and looks to be a consistent theme. It's not a great result. But it nots a bad result either. I'm just saying, while some will go to extremes and exaggerate the negative, some will go to similar extremes the other way.

The lack of creativity and firepower can't be ignored. It was neither a bad nor good performance. It was OK at best. And OK won't be good enough unless home form improved markedly.

And in case you missed it we were doing exactly that until that fluke of a goal, hit and hope ball back into the mix and they scored from it.

Oh I agree today is a disappointment, particularly after largely dominating just after scoring. But we have lots of the teams, we are battling for automatic with, playing each other from now until the end of the season.

We've got Carlisle soon who also have play Stevenage, Northampton, Stockport and Salford as well as play at improving Gillingham and (usually) hard to beat Walsall.

Yet you'd think they were out of reach.
