It's a shit division, as always but I'd bet anything that we've played some of the better footie in this division.

But that doesn't work - so to complain about the quality of product badly misses the point. Or have you not seen how Stevenage, Northampton and the leaders play?

Roll your sleeves up performances, like the last three away performances give us the best chance of promotion. Entertaining? Of course not. It's L2!!

 

Aye I realise my error. We weren't miles off though. I find it hard to be complimentary about our season. We shouldn't be trying to catch the play off places. If performances had been better at home I might be a bit more measured but I can't muster much enthusiasm. I maintain that 8th place is disappointing. I'm relatively optimistic that things might improve. It's not been a good season so far though. Let's be honest!

 

I love your enthusiasm mate do keep us all grounded its easy after a result like today to get carried away.

 

I just think it's been proven that when we play, even just OK, against our promotion rivals - then we have nothing to fear.

I seriously cannot think of a game I'm dreading, but if I had to chose one - it's probably Colchester at home.

i.e. our promotion will depend on how we do against teams we clearly should be beating.

The play-offs were always the realistic target. But of course not getting automatic will be disappointing, but only because we've seen how piss poor most of the other teams are and it's our own errors (i.e. last week) that have cost us.

 

I think it's worth saying that the sentiment around where I was sitting was that we didn't play that well. Our passing was poor and we frequently got ourselves in to trouble.

On the other side though it was clear when we attacked that they were worried and almost every time we were near their box it looked like we could score. So, in some respects, it was an odd game.

Strong performers today were Stubbs (who won everything in the air, aside from our stupid zonal marking at corners), Halliday, Clayton and of course Lewis.

 

We'll see. Two tough games at home now - but frankly we should be winning them.

 

Think that early booking for Clayton diluted his influence a bit but Stubbs should be made captain immedietly...

 

Stevenage's style is to destroy any team who have the idea of passing the ball, i.e. Villa in the cup.

Here, it was always about whether we had the bottle to go toe to toe with them and we passed that.

But you can't beat watching an away win!! My day out at Sutton, will always have me smiling.

 

That first half was as bad as anything served up in the first half of the season.

I'm not convinced we'd doing anything this season. MH has to improve, STILL.

 

Impressive turnaround after half time. Shows we DO have what it takes but just need to do it more often. Especially at home.

Feels like we have grown as a team in that last 52 minutes. Really happy for the team that they put such a battling display and it should now be a catalyst for a great run where we climb back into the play off places ready to steal 3rd spot last day of the season.

Well if he improves his 12 points 7 matches ratio - the automatics will be very much on.

Derbyshires shot didn’t go over the line, it wasn’t a penalty, something was shameful, and their header that Lewis saved was well over the line.?

In all honesty , and I spotted it in the first half , they were crap , and only offered from a set piece. I was bloody spot on! Needless to say the once a weekers, once a month’ers and WUM’s ( they know who they are) and Fordy didn’t see it?

 

Be very interesting to see how Stubbs is now left out. In fairness, not having played much - two matches per week could be a slog for him.
