Fair play, we properly dug that out. After writing off our chances of a comeback win at half time and slating Cook and Derbyshire, I think its pretty obvious that my reverse psychology is the sole reason for the win and all credit should be given to me. You’re all welcome.

If Stubbs can be even half the player Davies was, I’ll be over the moon. He had a very decent first game today, looked controlled and assured.

Also though Kelly looked decent. Came on and didn’t look nervous. Decision making and timing was good in a which might have got the better of some young players making their debut. A solid, albeit short, first outing.

 

Dropping East with his pace and energy for Smallwood seems to be a wrong decision so far for me.

 

Games more often than not are decided by fine margins. That second half save by Lewis is a worldie, it wins us the game. This lad will not be in league 2 next season. And another for Andy Cook. Two assists as well, amazing what happens when you play your leading scorer. Let's not see this ridiculous situation again where the divisions second top scorer is sat on the bench.

Clayton isn’t a world beater, but he provides something different to what our current midfielders do, an it was somewhat of a missing piece in our system

Stubbs is a fantastic defender. His main issue is that he can’t stay fit, but when he is fit, he’s head an shoulders the best defender at the club.

I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that we happened to win our first game after going behind today. The signings of Stubbs, Clayton & Derbyshire play a massive role in the dressing room an it clearly had an effect on team morale

Great day and a great result.
Like I've predicted before, our football works for some matches and in some it struggles.
To say it's our 4th double of the season and we are only 5 games past half way.
It would have been 5 if not for a late equaliser last week.
I think we will be too good for Tranmere on Tuesday.
If we can reverse our defeat to Barrow earlier in the season then we are looking good for the run in imo.
The new players, Clayton, Stubbs and Derbyshire give us some solidity.
Great finish by Derbyshire today shows what quality he has.
As I've said before as well.
We are in a great position table wise, players returning from long term injuries.
Games in hand.
Really optimistic.

 

Absolutely agree. Derbyshire's goal is what Derbyshire has done all the way through his career and that gives us something different - a player who's always up for taking a chance. Stubbs is absolute class like his Dad was, as long as he stays fit. And Clayton is a nasty little bastard who reads the game extremely well.

An absolutely garbage half. Barely strung 2 passes together, created nothing, we look slow and ponderous and if the idea is to use our experience to get us through games, that isn’t working either. It simply isn’t working under Hughes. He’s a massive let down and his approach to the January window has taken us backwards.

Our tactics are nonsensical. Every single player behind the penalty spot on corners but we still concede. Short goal kicks that we then launch to players who can’t win headers and the team is spread out and on the back foot. Long balls to try and turn opposition defenders when our strike force has a combined age of 68 and all the pace of a sedated tortoise.

The game may as well be called now. We haven’t come back one from a losing position this season and that won’t be changing today.

 

I had 3 quid on ht/ft. Cashed out £110 (rather than nervously waiting for £123).

 

An excellent awayday. So great to put one over on the fat abuser and his bunch of route one beanpoles.

I still can't quite work out how we won that game. We looked completely bereft of attacking ideas or execution in the first half. I could see no way of us coming back from behind after the break. But in a break from our recent pattern we made the most of very limited chances by finishing clinically.
Hughes has spoken about the leadership qualities of the January recruits like Derbyshire, Stubbs and Clayton, so perhaps that's significant in our first win all season when conceding first. And hopefully the addition of Derbyshire, the return of Walker and the continued form of Cook will give us the firepower to make a serious promotion challenge in the remainder of the season.
