There is something about this that resonates with me. And judging by the flat as a fart atmosphere usually around Valley Parade despite 16,000+ being there i'd say its not just you and me. There's just not enough games like the Salford one, games that get you off your seat wanting more of the same. Lets see if Hughes can actually surprise us all on Saturday in what is a massive game against Mansfield and play an attack minded formation. I won't hold my breath...

at some point he has to go for it you seriously think that folk will simply sit back and let the season fade to nothing ???? If that happens then good luck with season ticket sales next season I seriously can see thousands going missing

I think the next four games can make or break the season. A decent haul from these could set us up for a good run, equally a bad run here could see us drop around mid table and not recover. My worry is i've not seen enough better performances to make me think we could go on a decent long winning run.

After all the inactivity,i thought we would have loads of games in hand, but it turns out we only have one on most teams. There are in fact several teams in league 2 who have only played 24 games,so who knows what the situation will be when everyone has played the same number of matches, which may be some time off.

10 points is not unreasonable to ask for with three home matches. In the same way Carlisle have gone on a run winning their last three.

Inevitably we'll have at least two draws and the "good point against a difficult team" brigade out.

Draws are no good at the moment really. Wins are what will push us up the table.

To be honest I'm more interested in performances at the moment. A class performance against Mansfield and an undeserved defeat will fill me with more confidence than an inept display where we get a scruffy 1-1. Far too much focus on results instead of performances on here. Performance is king. It will tell you what's to come over the next few months.

It's league 2. I want us out of it ASAP and don't care how we play to achieve that. If we do it with class performances that will be a bonus but for me, results are all that matter at this stage.

but when the results are shite along with the performance then you do have issues ........... still folk will get giddy with the 8 points from 8 points from 15 which in all honesty ain’t that special either ........... still I think the next 3 games will have a big say on this season ........... we fail to turn up next Saturday then I genuinely think we will be midtable this season ............. folk can go on about the games left but they simply ain’t showing enough to say they can go on a good run

    You're putting @Fordy117@Fordy117 to shame.

Even @Rcbantam@Rcbantam would struggle to match this level of apathy...

That's a nice sentiment, but the absolute opposite of the truth.

Performances, ultimately, don't matter to the league table - only results.

Performances only matter in so far as trying to predict the next outcome - but a performance means absolutely nothing without a result.

Seen enough shit performances down the years where we've scraped a win to herald in a run of shit results. Conversely seen us get beaten having played well followed by a run of good results.

One of our best performances happened very recently - against Salford - cracker of a game, both teams going for it, and we won with 3 excellent goals.

Should Mansfield be worried about the free-scoring Bantams? ;)

That's a good example to disprove my theory, however I think a very significant variable to factor in is the loss of Tyreik Wright which, unfortunately, could be the undoing of our season. The Salford game is one of the few where we have looked anything more than a mid table side.

He was a quality player, I enjoyed his time here, but I think Banks is good enough to tear most L2 defences a new one.

It feels like we only got Wright/Banks playing together a couple of times, but assuming Banks stays (which seems likely considering the date), he's probably the bit of quality we've missed in the last few games.

Big few weeks coming up for certain. If the likely results go against us on Tuesday we'd be ninth and 4 points behind 5th, a barrow win at carlisle would drop us to tenth.

It's a tad worrying to think that a couple of weeks ago we were talking about winning our game in hand to go a point behind 3rd, and now there is the potential of a 4 point gap to 5th. Lose to Mansfield and it's possible we could be looking at only two playoff spots to aim at.

My worry is , that if we take the "Stockport" approach and apply the important we don't lose scenario over this run of tricky games, we end up further adrift by only picking up points here and there

What’s putting you to shame is that you have to post about other teams results .
Concentrate on us because counting on others in a poor league highlights how poor we currently are this season.

Your theory has some merit. Even when we were sat well placed in the playoffs with Bowyer, the smart people knew where we would end up as the performances didn't warrant a playoff position. Only so long you can ride your luck.

Generally the teams that go up at the end of the season do so because their form over the season warrants it. Most teams will have a bad spell or two but as we saw under Bowyer, poor performances and those 1 nil wins will soon turn to draws and ultimately losses.
