Matty Foulds to Harrogate on loan (with Poll)

Maybe he thought Foulds would improve and kick on-dunno but clearly he is not that happy with him right now.

 

Agree with the first part, first and foremost Foulds was good at his job in defending. Not bad in one on one’s, good at corners due to his height, and generally a steady defender.

Earlier this season he was good going forwards too and put some good crosses over. The modern full back is expected to overlap and be an attacking threat too, and the quality of his crosses in recent weeks has been woeful, Rochdale being a case in point.

I’m sure Hughes sees Bola as a stronger player and let’s hope he’s right.

 

Yeah we need a hard nosed no nonsense Abbot/Kennedy/Jones type in their for sure-would compliment Smallwood I think.

 

Surprised but not unhappy. We desperately needed an upgrade and in particular a fullback who can get up the pitch and deliver a decent cross. Hopefully the new guy will give us what we need.

 

Foulds has generally been ineffective when in the opposition's half.A steady defender but his delivery into the box is certainly not his best attribute, Saturday's game been a prime example when in a good attacking position.

 

No sure how you can see anyone as a stronger player that has hardly kicked a ball . Good luck to the lad and i hope he is an improvement on Foulds, but t is a big gamble from where i a sat. Bola is not proven at any level.

What position does he play, has he missed a glut of chances or given away a bag full of penalties.
I would say Sparks is giving Hughes and his team all the tools and support he needs.
Its down to the manager to make it work.

 

I totally agree with you - let’s hope Hughes, Hodges and Gent know what they’re doing.

 

If anyone thinks changing left back will cure the current sides issues, then what have you been looking at all season?

They should take a long hard look at their captain then for a complete abject delivery of set pieces. His free kicks and corners have been so way off the mark it is beyond belief tbh!!

 

He's just realised he's going to have Rory and AOC giving him earache. Could be the making of him.

Got to agree - doesn't matter if it's Cook or Oliver in the box if we can't get a corner kick past the first defender, which currently Smallwood can't manage. I can't actually think of anybody in the team that can be trusted to supply a decent corner - Halliday? Chapman? Walker? Looks like we'll be taking them short
