Alex Gillead is one of the worst professional footballers I've ever seen. Apart from being able to run around a lot there's not a single thing he does well.

He's on a par with Will Atkinson for me, whereby he was so incredibly poor previously that now he's dropped back and is less noticeable people somehow accept the performances when in truth they are only just bordering on below average.

I get why people suggest Smallwood isn't having the impact they want but I'm curious to see whether he'd be a completely different player if we had an actual central midfielder alongside him.

 

I’ve got no problem playing out from the back, IF we had forwards who make runs and we turn from slow passing, to quick breaking in an instant. Sadly, everyone is just pedestrian, waiting for the ball to feet. I get how MH wants to play, but we don’t have the players to do it.

 

Watching Wrexham in FA cup. Reminds me off the football under Parky. It's good to watch

 

Take Mullin out and they ain't owt special. Oldham are shocking mind.

 

Gilliard is so poor and makes it hard for the team having such a bad player in the engine room of the team. Am completely puzzled how he gets near the team when we have much better players available

 

I honestly didn't realise that he was playing yesterday until half time when someone mentioned his name!

 

You can’t afford to have half the team missing and we’ve had that for the last 3 or 4 games minimum.

 

Rod and I wondered if it was an injury. Chapman took a couple of heavy tackles first half.

 

Think it was, he kept bending over and putting his hands on his knees.

 

Watched Jamie Walker doing a bit of running before the team came out for the warmup.
What I noticed was that after doing his runs from touch line to touch line, he kept holding his leg and shaking his head slightly, didn't look too happy.
Wonder if he is further away from playing than we are being told?

 

Does anybody from the hierarchy ever read these posts,?

Walker perhaps, although he hasn't played all season but other than that who comes in and makes us stronger?

I'm astounded Smallwood with 3 promotions as captain under his belt is getting pelters and Gilliead is getting the usual 'well done Gilly' shouts on a matchday.
Some fools support us.

 

The 2 players are so similar in playing style and ability that if they swapped shirts you would not notice

 

Missing as in not performing on the pitch. Pierera, Cook (recently), Gilliead, Smallwood, Chapman.

 

That's generous.

 

Because at times Gilliead has been the better player. Doesn't help Smallwood having Gilly at the side of him though, they don't really complement each other.

 

Ah, gotcha. That list could definitely be extended in that case though.

 

They really aren't and it's not even an argument because their playing careers can be compared in black and white.

3 average months at City doesn't make Smallwood a poor player.
