I’m not wiping what he did, but he wasn’t able to repeat it this season. We were on a very slippery slope when he left and it didn’t look like improving. The squad is poor, what he did first half was brilliant, but had he kept his job and the run continued, how many would have wanted him out then?

The run continued without McCall. We have not improved at all under Grayson, yesterday showed just how much rebuilding Grayson has to do if he is still here next season. It would be unfair to rate him until he's had a season with his own team, not the shower of shite given to McCall. I think if Grayson gets his way he will only keep half a dozen of this team at best.

I thought the same, then went to Rochdale and saw a formation that not merely most fans couldn't fathom out but by the way the players performed neither could they, long ball direct to Kai or Charlie so explain to me why we bothered playing Gilliead ?.

Maybe we sould take a leaf from American Football, we employ a tippy tappy manager who is good at getting results when pitches are covered in grass (say until the end of December) then employ a more direct manager for when the pitchs get a little heavier, McCall and Parkinson the dream ticket ?.

You do realise that Vincelot played in that position
    at Fleetwood
    at Bristol R
    at Doncaster
    at Blackburn and
    at Blackpool

Can you remind me how well we did in those games???? Vincelot has been poor since the turn of the year and wasn’t exactly pulling up trees before that either. Shame he’s on a long contract because his lack of professionalism would prompt me to show him the door.

I agree with the majority of this, but to say the season was ‘gone’ when he took over is bonkers. We were still IN the play-off positions, so how was the season over?

I think the answer is to be adaptable. A lot of the good teams are physical players that can play a bit.
Better to play football in the opponents half though.

Well we certainly didn't do that yesterday, as yourself I thought we might have turned the corner after our last two home games, but again Grayson says he went 4-2-4, yet we just launched the long ball forward, and it just came back.

Grayson reminds me of a poor Paul Lambert and Lambert steps to take Stoke down.

It's ok though as he doesn't allow players to have mobile phones at the table.

Lambert and Grayson are managers like that are done with in football.

Grayson was a joke at Rochdale yesterday. Tactics and formation all over the place.

It was over because, from a football perspective, we had absolutely collapsed.

We couldn't score and couldn't defend, with no options to bring in new players. From a purely logical perspective, it might seem bonkers, but sadly the evidence had been clear from mid December.

We haven't got a decent wide player at the club. We have only got one L1 standard forward at the club. Very hard to sustain a promotion push in those circumstances.

    It wasn't over at all.

Simple fact is Grayson couldn't motive the the players and has failed.

I don't think the players we have are good enough, as a generalisation. I'd agree that motivation appears to have been as issue, but we can only speculate as to what has caused this.

To be fair, since Blackpool we look to be more motivated. Just a bit limited.

The warning sign were evident early. I remember the away game at Walsall, a completely sub standard bench meaning a 3-0 lead disintegrated into 3 all draw. The annoying thing is this division is average standard at best, i don't think any of the teams above us bar the top two are anything special. The fact that we have capitulated against such a standard of team is damning on how poor this squad actually is. Of the squad as it stands i would be surprised if anyone was interested in any of our players bar Wyke, and even then i'm not sure anyone would want to pay what we would ask for him. Need to seriously think about their transfer strategy in the summer.

Sorry Fordy have to disagree, although Grayson has shown little if anything in his stint so far, the players at his disposal have either been injured or just not good enough. He's already called out the team for not being good enough, if he doesn't get the backing he is looking for he will not hang around with the squad he has inherited.

We were in the play offs for most of the season under him.

    He needs to leave anyway.

It won't be a big loss.

Judging by what he's done so far its hard to disagree but in fairness i'm not sure anyone could realistically do anything with such a poor squad. McCall did and it was a credit to his management that kept us that high for so long. Give Grayson the tools to do the job next season and then we can judge. As park has said i think it will immaterial as he won't be here.

Exactly, same players since the end of January and it took the embarrassment at Blackpool before Grayson could motivate those players.

We were in the play-off positions when the bubble burst. We had just signed a couple of defenders, a back-up centre-forward and a good defensive midfielder. However, McCall had to use the midfielder as a makeshift rightback and only had just over a week to work with the rest of them.

Grayson has flattered to deceive and some of his decisions have been bewildering at best. He takes a solid L1 right-back and plays him in central midfield and then plays our left-back at right-back. And wonders why we got our arses well and truly spanked. Then, against Shrewsbury, they have their left-back sent off and still replace their defensive midfielder for another striker. Us? We swap our left-backs and then take off one centre forward for another. Which takes us to yesterday. Trailing 1-0, in a match we had to win if we genuinely thought we could still grab 6th place, we took off a centre forward for a midfielder. It had to wait until the 77th minute before he took off a defensive midfielder for a 2nd striker. Tactically inept.

No, the squad isn’t great and will need a major overhaul in the summer, but we haven’t helped ourselves either
