Mark Hughes - NEW POLL

I'm quietly optimistic regarding Hughes, I like his demure, friendliness and honest modesty.
His appointment has a feel of McFarland about it.
He may well be here to dust the cob webs off himself, If/when he gest promotion with us he may well move on.
So, no nastiness like McFarland got,, I hope folk just accept it is what it is.

 

I agree. I thought what a contrast. Hughes appointment has surprised me, that we can attract a man like Hughes, he wanted to come here. He talked about gut feeling and it being the right time and club for him. I am absolutely sure he could have secured a contract further up the food chain but he had chosen us.

This is my own view and it is completely off the wall, but I think he may well decide to relieve Rupp of his burden.

Yes , I found the WYS hour really interesting . I warmed to the chap pretty quickly. Calmness personified ?

 

Wonder if Saunders would be interested in the assistant role. Hasn’t done a lot recently in fairness.

 

For sure he’s not coming out all guns blazing from the get go. Non of the “ Ill get you promoted in 10 mins” b/s. He knows there’s a job to do, firstly by consolidating what we have with the squad we have, then I bet we will see what I have personally clamoured for recently, a huge clear out of playing staff at the end of the season, to include many still under contact?

The club could do a lot lot worse than appoint Wild as assistant or try and persuade him. As Hughes will move eventually. What we need to be doing is building structure

Depends if you see it as a demotion. Work for someone like him. He will move on if he's successful. Someone will need to take over

 

I heard the "International" is under new ownership? It's a place that's always been recommended to me, and each time I've gone, I've been disappointed. Anyone been recently? To keep it on track....wonder if Hughes likes a curry, and what he'd go for

I used to go every week when i did my masters at the uni! I preferred it back then - same staff - the old bloke (lovely chap) with the grey tache. Cheap and tasty curry.

its gone a bit more upmarket under new ownership these days as you say. Curries are different and in the Akbars style hot dishes (see photo from my dansak collection of 2019!), not the silver metal bowls of old. Its more expensive but still decent IMO.

We are off later actually, to ‘celebrate’ end of half term lol. But in a way I do miss the ‘old’ International!

PS I reckon Hughes is a chicken tikka massala man. Solid and dependable!
