Problem with this, is a CB with pace does not resolve the issue of a lack of pace, elsewhere on the pitch, especially in the offensive side.

He's not really a CB though and the problem you always have with playing a player in a position they can do but its not really natural for them is they are always prone to small errors or being slightly out of position or slight delays in decision making that can lead to chances because rather than playing instinctively they are constantly having to think about what they are doing. You really want someone like Songo'o to be that emergency stand-in not the day in day out CB. So I would say you desperately need someone

It most likely will be, Luke Hendrie at best(yes I just said that sincerely)

Good luck to whoever signs, not their fault for the negativity but it is what it is.

If this had been done earlier in the window, as a calculated move and with time for us to bring a better CB in, I’d be all for it.

The reality is, he’s become pissed off at being singled out by the manager in his post match comments and is probably even more annoyed that the shitty back 4 he plays in is expected to continually try and defend 1-0 leads. Honestly, the back 4 we had when we nearly went down in 2011/12 was better than this one (Ramsden, Oliver, Branston, Seip)

I think the lack of pace at the back has led to us sitting deeper than we should.

To be fair Delfounso and Elliott both have strike rates similar to a centre half so if we do bring Delfounso in perhaps Derek can see one of them doing a job at the back…… Since Derek has us sat so deep normally all the midfielders have had plenty of practice playing in the back 7!!!! The guy is just a maniac this can’t be anything other than Canavan telling him to do one after being called out on Saturday. Derek players don’t like you, fans don’t like you please just F£&K OFF. #Adamsout

Or maybe he's just been offered an 18 month deal and we wouldn't give him a new contract.
He was likely to be released in the summer.
Can't blame the player for taking the 18 month contract and can't blame the club for taking a fee for a player who has been a liability.

    Oooh, good one.

Ramsden and Ridehalgh, about the same, Paudie is definitely better than Oliver, but given that Branston and Seip actually were defenders, I'd have them over Threlkeld and Songo'o in our back line 100 % of the time.

Let's be honest, these defence was always poor, it was poor before the season started and performed to the best of it's abilities thanks to the experience of Canavan and Ridehalgh, as well as the desire of Paudie.

Davies was with Oliver in the middle. Branston didn't play a great deal.
