Your view of possession stats alone dictating a style is too simplistic though

For example, the possession stats could be because we sit deep. By employing our full backs further up the pitch we have more passing options and keep the ball for longer rather than having to go as direct.

Whether Adams likes that option though is the big discussion point as I get the feeling he's not too concerned with rolling it about the back 4 and dominating the ball.

I don't get many wrong though

 

Teams with attacking full backs need pacey mobile defenders who can read a game. The former would be great if we had the latter . Ours are pretty much , sad to say, like cart horses!

The top teams in the Prem use full backs as extra wide men….we can’t with much certainty with our back two central defenders..

 

I think Adams has even said in the past that he's not bothered about possession for possessions sake, and that a lot of young modern managers are naive.

If we wanted to use full backs as fifth or sixth midfielders like Liverpool do, we'd need to embark on that journey with our next manager - and then hopefully stick consistently with that through successive changes.

I give us a zero percent probability of maintaining any level of consistency in terms of tactics though

Sutton is easily the best RB we have on the books... Threlkeld and Cousin-Dawson's inability to overlap leaves us incredibly one-dimensional. If we don't sign a right back (which I can't see us doing) we have more cover at DM with Songo'o, Watt and Cooke than at RB. Also might make Gillead's role make any sense whatsoever
