January transfer window

We need to invest. If Rupp didn’t want to sell then he needs to invest. No point in just floating around in League 2. Identify young exciting potential and snap them up. Build that around a sturdy experienced core. I think we can write this season off so use this window to get the basis of a strong squad for next season bedded in and ready to go.

 

Crazy thing is, even though we haven’t been convincing the last 3 games (terrible at barrow and we’re lucky to win, shite at Carlisle, and only played for half the game yesterday) win at dale and it’s 3 wins from 4 games. That’s promotion form. The season is far from over, and still plenty of points to play for.

 

Why on earth would we write this season off? We are 6pts, 2 wins off the play offs. If this club has any ambition we should be identifying players to make that happen. And us fans should be demanding that happens.

What an awful defeatist attitude.

 

I’m sure previously you’ve stated about not being bothered how we get the win, provided we win. 2 wins out of 3 is a good return. The stats won’t show how well or poorly you’ve played, just that you’ve picked up 6 points. Now I’m not saying we’re suddenly going to storm the league, but getting the first win at home since late October could be the catalyst to changing fortunes. Bring another couple in this week and who knows.

 

For someone who constantly bemoans our lack of ambition as a club, that sure is a weird response to someone who is pretty much asking for the very same.

 

We need back to back wins. A winning run!

Once the lads get to pick up the runs from Walker I think we’ll see the results come and their performances lift by another 20%. As for being miles behind the 8 ball, we’re not too far off the playoffs even if the first half performance was unconvincing.

 

Of course I get excited about waking up in the morning, it beats the alternative of being dead by a long way.

 

Play offs wasn’t the aim!

We’re 6 points off the play offs and just not good enough.

 

Why is it a weird response?

When was the last time we had back to back wins?

 

Promotion was the aim!!!
Will you be pissed off if we get promoted via the play offs?

 

Do you think with the current squad we are capable of reaching the playoff places, staying there until the end of the season and then winning them?

Promotion was the aim at the beginning of the season and anything but that will be seen as a failure.

Of course we do, but that winning run has to start somewhere so why not yesterday?
I think most of us on here agree with you that we have not been good enough all season and need to do a lot better if we have any hope of ending up with a successful season. However, the majority of us are confident enough in our opinions about that not to feel the need to ram it down everyone else's throats every 5 minutes just so we can say 'told you so' when it all goes t!ts up again. We were told the aim this season is promotion, so how about you hold the club to account on that and demand they start delivering, rather than just rinsing and repeating (like you do at your car wash) the same boring claptrap all the time?

 

I don't think the current squad is good enough for the play offs. Most games now, our back line is shown to be pedestrian. Before his sending off, the lad yesterday was causing the same type of problems as Omari Patrick.

 

Correct but the addition of another 2 or 3 quality players will change that. We should have had those players in during the summer but didn't, we should be demanding they are brought in now. I'm giving the club the benefit of the doubt until the 1st February but if those players don't materialise, the club will deserve every bit of anger and criticism and torn up season tickets they'll have thrown at them.
