Surely it's better for Wyke is to stay at City and get a free transfer next year. Obviously that's not the best thing for the club.

Wyke from his point of view would be better waiting a year and then negotiate his own transfer with the money going to him rather than the club. Of course it’s then in his interest to shine so as to get the best deal he can. The danger for him of course is if he loses form or picks up a bad injury he has no security.

 

Wkye wants out though.

Plus staying an extra year at a club that has no ambition won't help raise Wyke's value(in terms of Championship clubs wanting him)

As I said (obviously not clear enough for you), the concern is about signing these lads from the 1st team budget. Nobody (I repeat, nobody) has said it is a bad idea to try to find the next hidden gem.

But if you weaken your first team squad by ploughing money into signing players for your u23, then yes, you will get some criticism...!

Does he want out? I heard rumour that he rates Collins as a coach and has been offered a new contract.

FWIW I think he’ll go because a Bolton or a PNE could triple his salary without blinking and if they offer Edin the right money they’ll get him.
