Some on here will suck farts out of the arse of a complete novice CEO but berate a guy who's owned a football club for over 15 years, currently in the championship and been involved in over £60 million worth of transfers. I know he's a bit lairey at times but is have him at my club any day of the week.

Exactly my point Idle. It must be hard for Reece to feel he can make a break into first team when the manager sees him playing somewhere different than the position he feels is his best. Though I think Adams should be given more time to give us some success and upward movement, someone further along the line (Sparks) should give him chapter and verse about how important it is for us to up the game with our young guns coming through. Adams sure ain't a fan of bringing on young players - wants his teams to be 'fully formed' . I can understand that - all managers want and need success and the quickest route to it. But the club have to be more forward thinking. We can't sell on young players for the benefit of BCFC if we're not developing them properly.

Please divulge in your many years as a CEO of a football club why that interview is embarrassing? It seems a pretty frank & honest assessment of a year in charge. I forgot the Mike Ashley’s & glazers roles have been pretty flawless. If only you had more phrases than “utter shite” & mr sound bite, that record is well & truly stuck

 

So you’ve looked at the league table and decided that their shite. Another example of someone not knowing much about anything outside of their Bradford bubble.
He’s done an excellent job at Gillingham if you look at the size of that club compared to some of the clubs in that league. Finished 10th I believe when covid hit and in great form. Transfer embargo this summer so only allowed loan signings and free transfers.
10 senior players out injured and having to play youth team players.
Gillingham are owned by Paul Scally who’s been there for over 2 decades. No mug in this game and stabilised Gillingham in League 1 for this their 9th season there.
Stevenage made an approach for Evans a week or so back that was rejected by Gillingham despite their awful form and financial worries. He’s a manger to take a team by the scruff of the the neck and get results. Something that we badly badly need here! Not someone who is just going to do dig out their own players week in week out and shirk all responsibility.
Like I said in my post - I understand he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but is he a bad manager? No of course he isn’t.

 

Very good manager, another club who jumps the gun on sackings after years of stability with McCarthy. And now they’re massively under achieving.

So would I tbf, if there was one manager I’d replace Adams with(realistic) then it’s be him. If he would be considered realistic of course.

I don't need to care about the ins and outs of Gillingham to know that that performance at City wouldn't be good enough.

Chairman Paul Scally has supplied a statement with regards to the club's EFL embargo.

Whilst the football club is under a form of embargo with the EFL as a result of taking the benefit of the ‘soft’ loan made available from the Premier League in connection with the challenges resulting from COVID, it is not the same form of embargo placed on Clubs for non-payment of debts to HMRC, football creditors, players etc.

The word embargo is probably not the correct wording to be used and we are discussing with the EFL, and Premier League, a more appropriate form of wording, as this is not a penal embargo against GFC.


In fact a number of Clubs accepted the benefit of the loan, and like them we are repaying same at monthly intervals over a two year period. It is a monitored loan and whilst there are some conditions which are confidential, they do not impact on the Club's ability to bring players in or send out to/from the Club, albeit that can generally only be done during a transfer window.

 

Not listened to the Podcast, but from what I have read on here, MacAnthony was talking about the here and now form of City and how he wouldn't put up with it. As I said, his own team are struggling badly for form and 5 points adrift of safety. So, is he putting up with that or is he going to sack his manager?

For the record, I would have him here in a heartbeat, my problem with him is this podcast and telling other clubs how they should be run

 

Talk of Paul Cook, Steve Evans or anybody else is immaterial until the club is fixed. Grayson, Collins, Hopkin, McCall and Trueman and Sellars have done nothing and Adams is hardly pulling up trees. Either all of them are wrong or the club is.

Fix whatever is wrong with the club and a manager might succeed. There’s one constant in the period. A bloke sat in Germany. I’ll accept none of the platitudes about him saving the club, keeping it alive, where would we be without him or the worst of all, nAmE Me SOmeOne ELse WhO wILl bUy Us. As if that’s my job, we were doing fine until he turned up.

Football management is based on results and Adams has to be close to the sack. Has to be.
