Did you see the one Vale conceded, basically lost the ball carelessly etc? "Silly goals" are what L2 is about. It even occurs in The Premiership and I'm talking about Liverpool and Man City on occasions.

If we convert our chances better, i.e. like we did against Oldham then pressure is taken off the defenders.

 

I like Canavan, but I don't rate Paudie. Just my view. A quality CB next to Canavan, Songo just in front and we'd be solid.

 

Only a couple of teams have drawn 7 games like us and only two have drawn 8 - both of those with 8 draws are above us actually. It feels like we're going to end up drawing a lot this season because we're not going to score loads and the defending is poor at times.

Yeah a draw was fair in the circumstances, frustration for both sides for all sorts of reasons.

Our strength on the bench is impressive but can always get better. We're all a bit disappointed that Rodney was subbed on tbh, he's been awful this season compared to last, would have preferred to see the excellent Dennis Politic to come on who we'd love to sign from Bolton in Jan. You definitely need to find some sort of spark up front in January, and we could probably do with finding competition up front for the bench options Lloyd and Rodney.

I think if Wilson didn't pick up that knock for our goal and stayed on he would have scored one of those late chances. But that's football.

I knew it would be a tough frustrating game against an underperforming side so I'll take a point without too much consternation, analyse it and move on, good opportunity to get back into a confident ruthless vein of form next week against a troubled Oldham side.

 

The defence can do the basics, they will mop up those long throws and corners 90% of the time, vale looked lost at times considering they score so much. Long balls were meat and drink to the back three, yet we always have a balls up in us, today, the forest green goal, the switching off v Bristol and the Hartlepool shambles. It needs to be addressed

 

Adams doesn't like silly goals and poor defending. He doesn't really like 3 at the back. Even at Morecambe last year he would say "can play 3 at the back" but mainly played a 4. He's doing it more often than he likes which shows he's not happy with the defending unit.

 

I respect teams who have good data to support their results, which they do.

Usually my issue with our midfield is players making wrong choices, an although that was once again an issue today (i.e. Gilliead not playing Robinson through) The main concern was their inability to control the ball. So many times the ball gets stuck in a players legs or the ball somehow goes through the player itself. Cant blame the pitch that much either as a the vale players didn’t struggle anywhere near as badly as us

I thought both teams looked good in parts. Remember this is L2. Put another way, I still say whichever three teams end up above us are going up.

Paudie lunges into too many challenges without thinking things through. He was at fault for The Forrest Green goal from the other week an he did the same thing again today in the first half. Panics too much on the ball an got turned inside out for Port Vale’s Goal

If we could get a quality cb an a moderately decent Right Back in January, we’d have one of the stronger defences in the league

 

Not only is Angol a very good player he is likeable and appears to enjoy being there in the mix..

 

Feel for him, if he wasn’t so injury prone he’d be at a higher level. Hopefully we can manage him and get him through a decent amount of games. I wouldn’t try play him Saturday/Tuesday though.

its crazy to think that quality was here in L2 in the past.

 

I can’t understand those knocking Adams at the moment. He’s not the one diving in or mis-kicking the ball or missing the chances. We’re a tough side to beat and given the players we have thats no mean feat. I know one or two have called for Songo’O to move forward but I’m of the opinion he’s more of a spoiler than a creator. He gets in the way and hustles but isn’t great with a pass, neither is Sutton so we’d end up gifting possession back to the opponent. I think FCD probably deserves his spot back until we can bring someone in. Another central midfielder and half decent finisher would see us closing in on the playoffs.

Vale look decent and best of luck to you all but Bradford City shouldn't be scared of any team in this league. As soon as we started to play then it was like Vale got a bit scared for 10 minutes.

Vale are where they are currently but playing on the front foot. Nothing to be scared of in this league. This league is poor. All the teams are crap.
