We did create chances but the problem is that the people trying to take them aren't those who score goals even semi-regularly. Vernam and Crankshaw both missed really good chances. I can't see them scoring more than 5 each this season from what I've seen so far and arguably Vernam is on really good form. So, if we can't find a way to give Cook more opportunity then we won't score enough goals. He's too wedded to a formation with Cook being isolated up top. Needs to be more flexible because teams will come to defend - we all know it.

We were pedantic in the way we played with no idea how to break them down, We put bad aimless crosses in to the box which were easily dealt with as we played in to there hands with no imagination to change things,
They were given a point they did not earn it

I really don't see the comparison to Josh Wright. Threlkeld was in the full back position where you don't always want your man diving in. He was doing an ok job holding him up but the no 7 was a tricky player and did him on the inside. As I said before we needed to double up in him. Nothing like the Josh Wright thing

That describes the second half well but not the first where we were really good at cutting them open. Just didn't take our chances.

Its a concern, I agree. We need to be meaner at the back and more clinical up front. On the plus side, we look much, much more cohesive and creative than last season. And with today's line up, with almost the same players. The big question is whether these players can develop that killer instinct or not.

But right now, I feel pleasantly surprised at how entertaining and creative Adams style of play is. I think there's a lot more to come from this group.

Evans was a lot more involved and useful than Gilliead who had a very poor almost anonymous game

No, sorry, not having that! Please watch it again. He literally retreated into the penalty area with him and never made him do anything he didn't want to. He could have pushed him to the touchline or pushed him into the centre where there were more people or try and tackle him or just foul him! He just let him keep on going and going and then he passes it sideways to his team mate! It wasn't actually "defending", it was "escorting" if anything!

Ridiculous you can’t say he was like the worst player ever to put a shirt on for City, their number 7 cut inside who is their best players. Just one of those things and could probably say he is not at full pace yet.

I only saw it live. Right in front of me. I'll watch it again. But that no 7 had the besting of anyone one on one. So in my opinion you hold him up until help gets there

Oscar Threlkeld clearly isn't a real right back we need better ASAP

Sadly the transfer window closed on Tuesday. Funny isn’t it, how we’re always needing an orthodox right back, but we never seem to sign one.

Threlkeld not a patch on Ridihough who was very good today. It’s disappointing to drop two points when the opposition are down to ten but I disagree with @trevor@trevor i thought Wallsall defending superbly even if it was in numbers.
The big worry for me again is Cook he is a good chance taker even though he missed a few but he is poor at leading the line and without Angol we haven’t got a player that can do.

Parts of this I agree with performances and more importantly results are starting to concern a bit. Vernam was one of the better players and a constant thorn, Evans is old and slow I don’t rate him, and Cook was often too deep or outnumbered, but still should have scored. There’s a lot of pressure on him the way we are set up.

I’m starting to think top 7 is the realistic target, not top 3, and we’re missing Angol a lot more than I thought.

I kept reading a lot of people saying he was actually a right back but he looks flimsy under pressure and pretty slow especially on the ball not very happy with him to be honest

Not sure I'd want him in midfield though either can see why Salford got rid

Cook can lead the line he has a good leap on him, but he needs a foil and it was hard to work out who that was today.

No idea what you're on about but watch it again. Their lad picked up the ball and moved forwards, Threlkeld moved backwards and backwards and kept going backwards, keeping about 2 metres between him and the attacker. It was poor. He never made him go towards the touchline or go back into the middle of the pitch or anything, he just kept retreating and then when the attacker got to about 10 yards from goal he passed it to the right and the lad scored. It was basic.

Probably a poor team goal not just one player at fault. Too easy for the goal scorer to be honest.

Yes it was, same as the first goal at Mansfield. The cross should never ever have been allowed to be made. I bet that’s what pizzes off Adams the most.
