Well we know over resent tmes it was a toss up which club were the biggest basket case, us, Bury, Port Vale, Oldham I'm sure more could be added with regards some of the decisions these clubs have made.

Let's face it he's are 3rd choice striker if cook stays fit he ain't gonna be playing much. Prob bring him on for last 10mins now and again to give cook a breather. Still plenty of attacking options in team and pace out wide. Confident cook will bag 20 this season we've started well onwards and upwards

I’m not sure we’ll ever have the perfect window for everyone. Last January was claimed to be one of the better ones but it turned out poor. This one started well but is deemed to be lacking in quality. Let’s hope it turns out ok. As we’ve seen with Salford who probably have one of the richest owners in the football league, money doesn’t guarantee success.

The squad is a sum of its parts and if Robinsons 5 goals result in us getting promotion then nobody will care. He’s not been heralded as a marquee signing, just another experienced body to bring off the bench when needed. Not ideal but no one in this league has signed anyone to make me go wow..

With him not being part of PV plans will he be fit enough to play at the moment to the standard Adams requires? Lavery was not played due to lack of fitness when signed.

The last loan signing to make an impact was actually Andy Cook last season

The loan market was pretty active this year and as you say you should have a head start, however Adams isn't interested in developing your own talent, what would encourage a development manager to send loaness?

Let's hope, fingers crossed he finds a rich vein of form, scores enough goals, provides assists and his general play contribute to a successful team - he is City player now so we need to back him.

And Guthrie isn't here to keep you out of the team like he did at Port Vale.

I think he’s going to be a similar player to the Don. Bring him on with 20 mins to go. Fresh legs and hold up the ball. Have had time to sleep on it now, and at least we got a striker in. Adds depth to the squad and hopefully will play his part. Just think of him as a poor mans Ronaldo :)

Port vale fans are laughing their heads off on Twitter.

Apparently he’s been training with under 18s all year long.

It’s going to take a while to get back up to professional standard and even then I’m not convinced he will bring anything to the team.

Sorry but this seems like such a backward signing. Something we’d have done in our previous L2 stint.

No, but it doesn’t inspire confidence in our new signing does it.

We want them to be gutted that they’re losing a good player not laughing at getting rid of excess baggage.

I still think January was a good window, we went from relegation threatened to having a sniff at top 7 before eventually ending mid table. You can only do so much in a January window, we ended where we did due to a shambolic summer which January helped save us from the worst case scenario. Plus Vernam, Cook, Canavan are all regulars now and even Crankshaw gets good minutes off the bench. Not sure why that makes it so poor, you’re never going to turn into a title winning team from a relegation one in that window.

I understand exactly what you're saying, and we've a long record of signing players that are just anonymous when they leave, having done nothing.
However, it isn't always the case, and everybody deserves the chance to prove the cynicism in us wrong.
Colchester fans speak well of him, maybe he just lost his way at Vale, became de-motivated. pushed out, who knows, it happens.
Therefore, a clean slate, a big league two partisan home crowd, Adams, the system he'll be asked to play in may just all work in his favour.
If it doesn't I'm sure we'll soon let him know, if it does, he may get a trip to Wembley on his CV.

Some love from the Derby fans as well. Apparently had a good run then was dropped and never scored again. Fans were mystified why he was dropped. Sounds like he does have some potential in him. He'll need to work hard to prove himself to Adams.

Good point. But as I say, if the young player is already at a level where he strengthens the team then everybody wins. And in fairness to Adams, he hasn't said that he isn't interested in developing young talent, he's said that any young player in the side needs to be ready to add value to the team now.

Bradford City are an injury to Cook away from Lavery and Robinson being the strikers.
Both of them have my full support, let’s see what they can do, but both of them average a goal every five games or so over their careers. There’s an awful lot of this season pinned on Cook staying fit.

There are a lot of strikers who only score if they're getting started week in week out which is often overlooked when players have barren spells

That probably won't be the case for Theo
