Plus Clough should have been more than aware that we started to target them totally down that side after half time, and he did nothing to change things around to counter that.

 

It was excellent, I reckon he’s about 5/6 games behind the rest in terms of fitness if we include those missed pre season.
He’s certainly a unit!

Not having that, McCall isn’t the sort of man to dislike someone because they earn more or are more popular. I was once joking with him about shouting to him to come back to Bradford in the warm ups before Scotland played Switzerland in Euro ‘96, he laughed about it and moved on to talking about McCoist’s goal in that game, anything but talk about himself. If you think that he’s not the first to but some one else in front of himself then you’re wrong. Captaining City to the PL, certainly a big moment in his career and for his club, but he scored a late equaliser in the FA Cup Final against Spurs I think, won the Scottish FA Cup three times and the league five times, played 40 times for Scotland and scored a goal in Italia ‘90. There’s a lot in his career, he played along side some proper players like Gazza, Laudrup and Gattuso and was arguably replaced in the Rangers squad by van Bronckhurst. Class act, not the most skilful but one of the best players and best men ever to wear a City shirt, the club could exist for another 118 years and that will still be true.

To be honest he wouldn't have been my first choice this season. Having said that I have been quietly impressed with him so far. Good shot stopping at key points in games plus he seems to have got a longer piece of elastic!

 

It was a 50-50 ball and the ref deemed the resultant collision accidental. It’s a non story. Even their players didn’t make a fuss. So why are WE saying it could potentially be a red. It’s pretty easy to understand .

Almost felt life was returning to some kind of normality.....

 

Whilst it didn’t work out for him here, it was a good appointment at the time and I don’t think many people disagreed. He did a wonderful job at Blackpool under dire circumstances of a major fan/board divide.

He took to our club well, especially over the fire anniversary, and understanding the club history and our ethos.

He’s a decent bloke but it turned sour with the likes of results and performances at Oldham and Mansfield to name but two. Hindsight is wonderful, but I’d happily have a pint with the bloke.

 

I'm sure he is a thoroughly decent man. But his ultra conservative tactics were a total turn off. I remember going to the Orient away game that ended 0-0. We played ten men behind the ball against a team in the bottom four who were on a terrible run of form and leaking goals for fun. The game was there for the taking and the away following was begging him to bring on Dylan Connolly to have a go at them. But instead he brought on a defensive midfielder to further shut up shop with 20 minutes to go. Utterly soul destroying. I'd been supportive of him up until then but that game killed it for me.
