Match Thread Away v Exeter City @3.00pm Sat Aug 7th

When I checked the travel last Saturday, although there seemed to be delays on the M5, these seemed to be no longer than an hour. So I factored in that setting off at 6am would leave enough time even considering the inevitable hold ups.
So I’m sticking with the M5 rather than tailgating caravans on country roads for 100 miles

 

Got a helicopter, m8?

 

Not going but if I were i'd set off 2/3 am, get down there, break it's back, find somewhere for a bit of breakfast, relax around the shops 'til the pubs open then slowly work my way to the ground..
stress free hopefully then take my time with a few stops coming home..

 

It's probably already been mentioned but can't be assed trawling through to check, but Randall to Posh is confirmed, huge loss to Exeter, 7 figure fee quoted must be nice for any L2 club but surely we're playing them away at the perfect time before they can effectively put the cash to good use.

 

We did that on a holiday to Newquay in the 80’s…..It took 12 hours with a 45 minute stop for breakfast at a Travel Chef. That actually took 90 mins…..45 mins wait for a table. It’s was rammed at 9 in the morning. Good luck to anyone going and safe journey.

 

Never seen a service station as rammed as Michael Wood on the M5 at 9am on an AUgust Saturday. Made LFE when go to Wembley look empty.

 

Ayr that was an experience on the way down for sure. The Notts County playoff day video still brings a tear to the eye!

 

Just seen on Exeter site, Train engineering works between Bristol/ Exeter and Waterloo/ Exeter.

I’m sure these are factors in your train times if coming from these directions

So you’d set off at 2am and come back the same day.??? That’s almost 24 hours without sleep.

 

Used to do that with. 12 hour shift in the middle

Sleep is for wimps, 5 or 6 pints down me and i'll be home in no time...!!

 

We could re-enact a scene from die hard where a fake emergency is reported on the M5 and we all follow the emergency vehicle when everyone moves over. Lol

I'd do a better job than 'Highways England' who close the motorway for 8 hours if a squirrel gets run over..

Came back up North from Devon via M5 a couple of weeks ago only 4.5 hours from Exeter to Warrington ... however , Southbound traffic was a nightmare - wouldn't wish it on anyone ... On the way down we drove via A1 / M25 / M3 / A303 and this took 5.5 hours from near Cambridge !!
