Agree that we need another striker, but honestly, I think our magic dust has already been signed in Cook. Across Lgs 1 and 2 and The National League (which, let's face it, as a virtually professional league is Lg 3 by any other name), Andy Cook has scored 202 goals in 433 games. That's very nearly a goal every two games. Can anyone name a player with better stats for a striker who consistently scores wherever he goes? I think we have the best goalscorer in League 2 and with Eisa, Gillead, Cooke et al around him, I reckon he'll pull a 20-plus this season. What if he gets injured I hear you say? Well he's hardly got injured at all throughout his career. Feed the Cook! Feed the Cook!

Apart from a couple of Hartlepool fans suggesting we were interested havent seen anything else. A player released by Adams so seems unlikely, yet not entirely impossible I guess.

 

We're obviously struggling to bring in another striker. Lee Novak was reputedly on good money at City. If he doesn't get fixed up with another club, and we continue to draw a blank, we could do a lot worse than see if he'd come back on reduced terms. A question mark, I know, regarding his injury problems last year, but we know what he's capable of and he'd be a ready made replacement should Cook get injured

It is better to wait in my opinion. There are moves going on further up the leagues so some players will become excess to requirements. Charlie Wyke going to Wigan a good example.

 

Novak's a hard worker no doubt, but dogged with injury. I would imagine Adams will have five or six other strikers on his radar right now before Novak.

 

No need for panic in the least. The massive majority of our transfer dealing has already been done (when did this last happen in early July!). The final touches - i.e. another striker for example - are all now down to the waiting game. See who's not getting fixed up yet, still available, in our price range, right character etc. Adams has a month or so to monitor all of that.

We are only one player short of a full Squad almost unheard of at this time of year. I think the absence of any real rumours suggest that the final signing might be a loan
