If we are looking for a right back, I'd much rather we went in for Teddy Howe who was on loan at Scunthorpe from Blackpool last season. Looked very strong and sharp, impressed me a lot.

Probably not, but gives a more attacking option at full back. Threlkeld didn't look that mobile from the clips I've seen, not going to be the 'take a man on and cross in' type of full back where as Bryce looked like he was better at the attacking side of the modern day full back role, rather than a good defender. I think any loanees this year might be used to pad out the bench at most, seems to already have his 11.

But if we did use loans for cover in positions to mainly fill in every now and again, Hossanah is 22 now so will need registering and I'm fairly certain we are close to the 20 person registration cap. You'll be able to find a similar player from the higher divisions youth squad on similar money and not have to take up registration places.

I can't see us using loans at all apart from the emergency loan market.

What do you mean by the emergency loan market? I think you'll find the loan system changed a couple of seasons ago.

Other than for keepers for which there are 'emergency' loans under certain circumstances, there are now only two kinds of loans for outfield players - full season and half-season. And they can only be arranged during the transfer windows

Yeah, we need to make sure we're fully stocked when the window shuts.

At the minute, if Threlkeld is injured, I'm not sure we have anyone who isn't a teenager as cover.

On that experienced cover note, we are at 19 out of 20 slots for squad registration for the coming season too. So only one slot for a more "experienced" pro to come in. We probably need another who can cover at full back and another option up front.

I'd prioritise right back for sure, unless one of the young ones is specifically a right back - but I'm not sure any of them are? I've heard Staunton can play there, maybe Levi Sutton, but I'd be looking for an out-and-out full back as cover - or possibly as first choice if Threlkeld migrates to midfield, where he's been playing lately.

We have several players who can play up front - signing another would make Angol a pointless waste of precious squad space.

Yet either way, a 20 year old loanee for RB or up front would be good for squad depth.

Ah yes, forgot about him to be honest!

Think the 'rumours' he might leave suckered me in.

So you are ok going into a season with Cook and Angol as our only recognised strikers? Utter nonsense fella.

I thought we were now blessed with 3/4 full backs, plus utilities. Why would be need another?

Id rather see our front line position strengthening first.

However it is clear in the latest interview he says we have 23 out of24 squad positions filled.?

That's why I asked the question Kevin, although I did like what I saw of the lad before his injury.

I don’t recall very much about him tbh. If there was a choice an attacking full back would be preferred, but I think Adams would prefer a full back who can defend properly and stop crosses. Something we have been lacking for awhile?

    RB - Threlkeld, Cousin-Dawson, Sutton
    LB - Ridehalgh, Foulds, Staunton

    We definately need another striker.

We could sign a striker, but with Cook, Angol, Eisa and Vernam all capable of playing in an advanced role, as well as young Charlie Wood, we're actually pretty well stocked considering we probably play with one up top.

If we did sign another forward they'd need to be good - very good - to be worthwhile.

Cook gets injured, based on past seasons there aren’t a lot of goals in Angol, Eisa and Vernam. Starting the season with your goals based on that line up and you’re praying that you don’t many at all. Last season’s line up including Guthrie and Samuels was on a par with that and they couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo
