Songo’o Confirmed

most important signing this season so far, not for how good he is but for what sort of player he is. hopefully now we won't have to worry about losing the midfield battle every week

 

They are two different types of player do I don’t think you can compare them directly. Sutton is a good player who I think will improve this season. His energy and ball winning created the goals at Tranmere away and Bolton at home to name just two.

 

I think he should be even better knowing Songo’o is behind him, last season he ran back like a headless chicken if we lost the ball going forward. He tried to do everything because of other midfield frailties imho.

I think it’s too early to choose between Watt and Sutton.

 

Could we see a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Songo'o holding, behind Cooke and Watt as attacking CMs? Or Cooke and Sutton, with Sutton playing a McCall-style box to box role with Cooke staying further up in the 10 role? And we also have Gilliead, who can also play centrally these days.
Nice to have several decent CM options. It's a long while since we've had that.

 

Pretty sure he had a fairly big hand in a goal at Walsall too.

He had a ‘big hand’ in Newport’s last minute penalty too which pretty much derailed our promotion push.

 

Paudie had the occasional poor games which player doesn’t but overall he had a good season and winning player of the season plenty agreed

 

Yeah you're right. Can't believe we haven't sacked him.

If we're counting mistakes though, shall we go through all those made by the other retained players?
