Omari Patrick would have been decent in a 4-2-3-1 as a winger, sure, why not.

Devante Cole is a massively overrated player who gets opportunities of a far higher profile than he deserves.

It's name value.

 

Fully expect Connor wood to picked up on july1 by championship club or league 1 outfit

 

I mean the guy well but if a championship side go for him ill be shocked. Maybe town but still shocked.

 

Let's be honest, if a championship team picks him up, and plays him regularly, he will be back at VP in the away dressing room in 22/23 (assuming its a two year contract)

 

I won't be shocked.

I think quite a few Championship clubs will be saving a fortune in this post-lockdown season by bulking out their squads with really cheap players - I mean, they'll pay those lads more than they'd get in League Two, but it will be nothing like what some sides have been paying foreign bench warmers.

Any right minded Championship side that realistically isn't getting to the Premier League any time soon with their current XI shouldn't be paying tens of thousands a week out to anyone.

Expect a collective belt-tightening.

But even so, maybe Connor Wood in particular is not good enough. It'll depend on how many teams have two or three left backs in place already, and who needs cheap back up.

Think championship is a bit optimistic, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him turn up at Gillingham where he was rumoured last year.

 

If Jamille Matt is the answer I'm seriously annoyed that someone even asked the question.

 

As I said a few days ago, things have already happened (2 players to be announced) but looks like we are going to milk every last drop of anticipation!
Also as someone else posted, we are in serious discussions with 2 more players - and they are not all Morecambe!

 

I'm confused as what the question might have been.

 

I think Matt would be a good signing, he had a better goal return than Cook last season and he's a similar sort of player.

People need to be realistic, if we are playing one up front next season then we are going to sign a big number 9 target man to fill that position, whoever we sign for that position doesn't need to be Harry Kane, as long as we sign some attacking midfielders who can score goals as well then we don't need a 25 goal a season striker in that position.

 

I expect to see us sell both Cooke & Watt and replace watt & Sutton (benchwarmer) with two enforcers. Cooke to be replaced with a player who knows where the onion bag is.

You mean Matt who scored 17 last season to our highest scorer with 8...

 

If we bring in Jamille Matt and Cole Stockton, that'll pretty much be our striker sorted, save for back up.

I'm assuming the world class scouting system we've employed for years hasn't already picked up the next Carlos Mendes Gomes, but I could be wrong.

 

That's the problem with City fans, far too short term and blinkered, often picking out the single stat that backs up claim.

How about if I told you that Matt has only scored 62 goals at league two and higher in over 250 games?

Doesn't sound too bad, 1 in 4ish.

How about if I told you that he scored 37 of those in just 2 seasons (97 games to be exact) and the two seasons in-between he scored 6 and 4 respectively from a total of 77 games which is Guthrie-esque.

Feel free to laud Matts figures from this season but when you compare him to Andy Cook and look deeper that one season there really is no contest, Andy Cook wins it hands down.

 

Absolutely screams of another season wasted.

Yeah watt was crying out for that midfield enforcer all season to take the pressure off him! There’s definitely a very good player in there
