They will not keep stadia empty again, i'm guessing a reduced capacity to begin with then a gradual increase as the season goes on.

Why not ? Exactly why should the vast majority of the public (who have been vaccinated) have their freedom curtailed by the Jab Dodgers who believe everything someone with the IQ of WDM have posted on the internet or that some mythical imaginary person believes its wrong to take medicine ?

Anyone who posts anti vaccine propaganda on the internet should be sent to the Faroe Islands

SAGE have made a (worst case) prediction of 80,000 more deaths this summer and there’s a lot of noise about a third wave now, with cases of the Indian variant increasing there’s a likelihood of the June 21st reopening being pushed back at least a couple of months if not longer.

There may be a reduced capacity, however, with Bradford one of the worst areas of the UK for virus numbers, and the Government not ruling out local lockdowns, I can’t see fans at VP for the start of the coming season.

    Rightfully so, too.

So deaths are going up from less than the number killed in DIY accidents a day to back over a 1,000 a day despite the AZ vaccine having 97% efficacy and 60% plus of the population being vaccinated (ah and the Indian variant being no more deadly than the Kent one). I suppose the next factoid you'll pick up of the internet is that Elvis is alive and living in sin with Lord Lucan.

And FYI, Bradford isn't even in the top 20 worst places for infection rises at the moment.

This is what was said about Sage predictions just nine days ago. Worst case scenario is 16,600 more in the next 13 months. Around 40 per day. Compare that to 460 daily deaths by heart attack, 450 by cancer, similar by stroke. 16 people a day die by suicide. Currently higher than Covid

Data suggest vaccines are working so well in the real world that mathematical modellers who advise SAGE have dramatically downgraded their bleak predictions of more than 100,000 further Covid deaths within the next year and a third wave of the virus to rival the first two.

Their total death toll projection – which is shown to the Prime Minister and has previously been criticised for being too downbeat – has fallen 10-fold since the start of the UK's vaccine rollout as studies proved the jabs will slow transmission of the virus.

A report published yesterday showed that real-world data accounting for vaccinated people being less likely to pass on the virus has been factored in to long-term estimates for the first time.

The Imperial College Covid-19 Response Team, some of the Government's top advisers whose work triggered the first national lockdown in March 2020, have now revised their worst-case death toll for England to 16,600 more between May 2021 and June 2022.

Unvaccinated people over 40 should not be holding everyone else to ransom.
It’s their choice to be excluded.

Agreed - It's also not fair for young adults who have not yet even been offered the vaccine to be put at risk or for them to put others at risk (i.e in their household, at work, or in general society) through no fault of their own. In the interests of fairness, until everyone has had the opportunity for both doses, nobody should be attending football as it is not 100% safe to do so. Even more so now that the Indian variant is on the rampage and case numbers are worryingly on an upward trend.

Until someone tells me that the ‘Indian variant’ can cause serious illness in under 30’s or fully vaccinated people then I refuse to take it seriously.
‘In the interests of fairness’ doesn’t matter.

They will have been vaccinated by the start of the season. Case numbers up, deaths down. The Indian variant "scare" is just that.

Why are you two not taking the Indian variant seriously? That is extremely dangerous rhetoric you are implying here. There's no chance any of us should be allowed to go to VP until we are all 100% COVID-secure, and every adult, and possibly teenagers, have all been vaccinated twice. Then, and only then, should we even consider discussing coming back to VP in a COVID-safe, gradual manner.

It doesn't matter whether or not it causes serious illness in the under 30s, so long as those under 30s haven't been vaccinated twice and are in the same society as those who have not been vaccinated twice, it would be absolute madness to consider gathering in our thousands on a weekly basis.

All adults will have been vaccinated at least once by the end of July so there will be enough protection unless a new strain is out of control

One jab is nowhere near enough protection. There’s some debate as to whether Two vaccinations is even enough now as a third inoculation is being tested.

    Because the
Because the facts, rather than the Internet rhetoric, suggest that it is no more deadly in terms of deaths than the predominant Kent strain, and the facts also suggest that the vaccine is equally effective on it. Yes its spreading, but its only causing hospitalizations in the unvaccinated. Therefore it is no more dangerous than any other strain. Unlike you, I'm not buying the left wing media panic

Its not a third inoculation though. Its a booster for when the current vaccine loses efficacy. There's a massive massive difference. No one, anywhere, has suggested we need three vaccines to be protected and the efficacy rates on the az vaccine are higher than the smallpox vaccine. Its panic spreaders like you, you are stopping people getting on with life. Which we have to because economic collapse will cause more problems than the virus in the long term.

Ten people a day are dying from this, 460 a day from cancer. Perspective is required.

I get what you’re saying, however the effectiveness of the third vaccine is currently under voluntary testing so until we; a) receive the outcome of that, and b) have the population vaccinated at least twice, we should not be opening the gates.

It’s still very early days in our way out of the pandemic. Waiting another season won’t do any harm.

The third injection is a booster after a period of time. The first is 70% effective after about 21 days but with all sensible vulnerable protected August should be the time to move on

Viruses spread rapidly and dangerously, in case you missed the news over the past 18 months. Cancer isn’t contagious.
