He looked it to me, I'm just surprised it wasn't debated more on here.

Yes Bolton were the better side but again, for me, we should be coming away with a clean sheet.

 

Thing is - where was he was Doyle shot? I couldn't see where he was then. OK, the ball looped up and he was closest to the line/goal but I don't know where he was when the shot came in, which is the key part.

 

I went back and paused it at the time and looked onside to me.

 

That norse beserker fury will definitely seem him in the refs notebook....

 

We were on the back foot. In the second half we were relying on counters to score. They took ownership of the game from halfway through the second half.

 

I thought the first half was pretty even but you were all over us like a rash second half.
Our central midfield looked totally knackered after the frantic first half - they've played a lot of games and it's the one area that we don't have great strength in depth. As a result we sat too deep and let you swarm all over us. When we did try to break out we kept hitting tired passes straight to your players.

You did deserve all three points, but our defence was magnificent. For all your threat you only had two shots on target all game. Applying pressure is all well and good but you have to turn it into goals. The one you got was deserved on the balance of play but, even then, somewhat fortunate, with the deflection off Paudie looping it over Hornby to Delfonso. It's not as though you were carving us apart and creating many chances.
Unfortunately for our tired bodies the relentless schedule marches on. At least most of the teams we play won't be of your standard. I'm sure you'll be in the playoffs, if not automatics.

 

So true mate, look this is nowhere near the finished project but what an attitude T&S have developed in the team. Some negative comments during the game on here (the usual suspects) but this is a Bolton team on every bit as good a run as we are on and it was always going to be tough. I said during the week I would take a point and that was not being negative but realistic as to the amount of games our key players are playing and that we will get a few setbacks along the way - but not today in my eyes.
And loved the response of the players to Rowes goal and AK (it was also his moment of the season so far! )

 

Yes some good points.
Their midfield has a bit of quality and them being having more experience showed - ours needed to be at the best but looked a little jaded. The passing to try to put players through was executed poorly - had we been at the races there were a few opportunities to catch them on the break.

 

You didn't watch the end of the Mansfield game then?

 

Love Paudie but Canavan is like Bobby Moore.... thats a joke but he is very good... oh just for info Guthrie did not score today ahhheeem

 

I stand corrected then. Looked like Donaldson from what I saw. Anyhow still stand by what I said about him.

 

I can't fault what you have said about the defensive effort...... but we invited them on to us so it had to be a good defensive display.

 

The original ball back in Donaldson gets a touch on his thigh that AOC helps on and it breaks to Rowe.it's not the best quality.

 

Agree. And we scored one goal with probably one shot.

If we'd had 5/6/7 shots then maybe we'd have scored more?

 

Just watched it back again to make sure. Donaldson doesn't touch it, at all, in any part of the move from the corner kick?

 

I think we had the beating of their defence but I think under T&S we are risk averse and our midfielders sit in rather than press high but the last few minutes showed what we could do. Hope we don’t play them again this season

 

Thought we were second best all over today, especially in midfield. Bolton had the legs on us in there and won virtually every loose ball. As others have said, Watt, Cooke and Sutton need a rest. But who comes in?

Great finish by Rowe and those moments are exactly why we signed him. But we were woeful in possession today, just like Tuesday, and constantly made the wrong decision on the ball or just took too long to decide.

 

Trueman sounds such a level headed guy when interviewed. No dramas. Stuck to game plan and admitted losing it a bit when we scored.Just like us.

 

I need to see a better quality clip, as I say above it looks to come off Donaldson's thigh and then maybe AOC got the final touch to take it away for Rowe to ram home, but of Donaldson didn't get a touch I can live with that.
