I wouldn't hold your breath - I'm still waiting to hear the difference between saying someone is a good signing before seeing him play, but not allowed to say it's not a good signing. there's no difference.

Pretty certain fans make a judgement if they know of a player rather than a wild guess with a player they've never heard of or seen play.

From what I've seen it's the normal mix of negative/positive and wait and see because you know nothing about him.

What are you saying here, that signings have never been praised before we've seen them play? Because that's the point he's making.

What you've said is incorrect. Fans make predictions on signings regardless of how well they know them. For example, Reeves and Mcarten were getting praised last pre season before they had kicked a ball for us. "Wild predictions" are only a problem if those predictions are negative.

And Reeves up to his injury lived up to it. And unless he moves on will play a major part this season. And people were absolutely slating Taylor who before his problems did well.

What I've said is correct. Ricc mentioned specifically the Isherwood signing which I was replying to, nothing else.

With regards to other signings and managers quoted, if fans have an opinion based on what they have seen ie having seen them play or manage they can give an opinion. If they play in Germany and have never seen them play then how can they give them an opinion?? Positive or negatively??

You've missed the point spectacularly. Whether Reeves, Taylor or anyone lived up to their reputation isn't the point. The point is the hypocrisy involved when it comes to pre judging a signing. If the comments are positive- great. If the comments are negative "have you seen him to come to that conclusion" etc etc. It only seem's to work one way.

I think the thing is some people are prepared to give the player a chance before criticising and others aren’t. In @Ricc@Ricc case he finds any excuse to have a go at the owners justified or not

His original point was about signings in general, and that's the one you responded to with your "wild speculation" comment. I probably quoted the wrong post to make my point, but I'm responding to your first comment which I don't agree with. Unless we sign an Oztumer or a 35 year old non league journeyman, none of us are really in a great position to make a proper judgement on asigning, but we do. Speculating on players and taking an educating guess on how someone might pan out for us is part of being a fan. Don't really see the problem with it.

all these posts, praising the quality of the signing are okay, but I'm not allowed to point out the fact he's yet another lower league player we've got from Germany and all the others we've had from there have been crap?

Praising a signing using blind faith and criticising one without having a justifiable reason are no different. One isn't any more valid than the other. The only purpose it serves for folk like yourself is that can play the uber fan card.

Look at me playing getting behind the lads ffs, why doesn't everyone else do the same...

    Zzzzzzzzzz.

I noticed yours was replied to @Ricc@Ricc but the usual posters have all gone quiet because they are afraid to answer as it will highlight the double standards they have.

I agree, its all part of being a fan. Looking at signings and judging them. I remember when we signed the likes of Anderson and Maclean and having that air of expectancy that comes with an expensive signing. Only to be let down completely. But wih the likes of Isherwood and Riley we can’t rate them, they haven’t played anywhere near enough first team games. That is all you can rate them on, just because they come from a big club is completely irrelavent. The likes of the aforementioned Anderson and Maclean had done it a higher level, we had every right to expect them to do the business at a lower level.

I said 'Pretty certain fans make a judgement if they know of a player rather than a wild guess with a player they've never heard of or seen play.' Take that which ever way you want to read it but basically you're saying the same thing here with regards to a player like Oztumer etc.

none of the above go over the top except perhaps SYB.they just are optimistic compare it to this repeat

People said Lukas Raeder "couldn't be bad" either.. and look how that ended up.

another lower league nobody signed from Germany. nothing to get excited about.
