According to T&A report today, 6 other clubs were chasing him, and he turned down more lucrative offers as he had his heart set on joining us

 

Just picked up on this. I had noted Fordy was absent then heard he was self isolating which I wouldn't wish on anyone but now discover its not Covid isolation just keeping away from anything like decent news.

 

Well, as we are all too aware, once a player has his heart set on moving to one club and one club only, there isn't a lot the selling club can do.

Any idea of who the other clubs were? Could add light onto why he'd want to sign for us (taking into account our current league position and management issues).

If Novak is injured for a while, we definitely need another striker. Donaldson should be limited to no more than the occasional 10 mins from the bench. We need much better for a starting berth.

 

As reported in today's T and A City are still hoping to bring in another forward and winger so it seems they are well aware of the situation

 

Good stuff. Another striker and left winger signing of a Danny Rowe ilk, and we'll be a very different proposition for remainder of the season.

 

amazing how Turnbull et al can unearth these signings, yet Stuart and Kenny couldn't get anyone decent in. Elliot Watt probably the best he managed.

 

I have no problem with Donaldson coming on at the end of games to keep defenders busy, use some physicality and hopefully use his experience well. With all the run of games coming up we need to be able to give some of the starting team bits of breaks at the end of matches or they'll just wear themselves out and get injured. If we have Novak and Rowe we have two starting forward, nothing wrong with a Donaldson coming from the bench. If we've been practicing corners he might even get a goal or two!

 

I think its a number of things:

1) contacts and access to scouts - you have to be able to find these players and know of their individual circumstances. Very few clubs leave it just to the manager these days.
2) the ability to negotiate properly and get deals done.
3) being properly backed by the club.

On point 3, I think there's a likelihood that we cut back costs as far as possible last January and in the summer, due to a combination of Covid and the club not having a long term plan. We have more certainty over COVID impacts with a vaccine now available, and we have a longer term appointment of a CEO and Recruitment Manager. I don't think Rupp will go nuts, but I think we might see a bit more of a demonstration that money will be spent if its done against a longer term plan for taking the club forward.

 

I agree. Donaldson is fine, as long as he doesn't need to run.

Having watched the video clips of Rowe's goals it is pleasing that he is comfortable shooting with either foot.

 

As Recruitment Director its his job as it was with Abbo, if you remember Stuart knew about the situation with regards recruitment, unfortunatly results didnt improve and he lost his job, let's focus on going forward rather than looking back, things look far better since Ryan came in hopefully it will continue on and off the pitch.

According to Trueman we had been monitoring Rowe for some time, he wanted to come so I doubt Turnbull had that much to do.

 

Every tom ,dick and Harry knew about Wyke.
