if you want an example of how a fan zone should work go to Northampton saints ru. superb set up, all outdoors, real ale bars, guinness tent, bottle bars, loads of different street food and very well used. the snag is you have to enter the ground and walk through the stands to get to it.

our perfect site would be the car parks between the kop and the school.

In normal times I park my car near the ground every home game and have done for many years. Never had a problem.
Why is Manningham unsafe to walk around? In 40 years of living in Bradford I've not once felt unsafe or been threatened when in Manningham.

I think he means the traffic element after games. There's been a few instances of cars accelerating through a dispersing crowd and I agree, we should be applying for some sort of temporary road closures to make it pedestrian only for the home games.

I've also, along with many others, had my car broken into whilst parking in the car park on Midland Road. 3 young lads take your money and then sod off (or more likely inform "friends" of any target cars) at kick off time.

With parking at a premium and those spaces generally occupied by members/players of the club, its not an option. Rugby generally gets the off field hospitality done very well, its first class at the Rhinos. Go back a few years to the Bulls heyday and Odsal was a great place to take a family, the stadium had its limitations but also had positives with a lot of unused space to exploit. VP doesn't have that luxury and its geographical location again somewhat limits what the marketing department can do.

I have lived in Bradford all my life, was pretty much brought up around the Manningham/White Abbey area even though i lived in Shipley. Never really felt threatened like i have walking round various estates but the area has deteriorated in the last 10/15 years. The driving and parking is laughable, pretty much drive how you want and park where you want round those areas now. Shame really, for areas i know so well i now have no emotional connection to them at all.

I can't say I've noticed much deterioration tbh. It's always been pretty scruffy and run down ever since I've known it. It looks much the same to me as it always has.
Admittedly it did used to have some good clubs that are no longer there - Sugar Cane, Palm Cove, Bibby's - but it's many years since they all closed. What is it you think has changed in the last 10/15 years?

I think what has changed is not unique to Manningham and surrounding areas, its more of a society change than a post code. Society just seems more angry these days with an attitude of i'll do what i want when i want and stuff anyone else. Maybe the growth of social media has something to do with it, i don't know?

We should have a fan zone in main stand in one of the suites, Went to Carlisle last year and was surprised buying a stand ticket gave you entry to the fans bar upstairs, Great range of beers and pies etc and was rammed with customers with large screen TVs etc, Must have taken a fortune over the bars as it was non stop and was a great place for fans to meet as it would be both good for the club financially City should look in to it

With the added bonus you can park in the Church’s factory shop car park! @Offcomedun@Offcomedun would appreciate it.;)

Me neither, I park at the Beehive (where @Bigrod@Bigrod also parks his nice BMW) and before that used to park behind the flats off Wood Street (near Kwikfit), near Haighies or anywwhere I could get in on/ around Lumb Lane. I've never had a problem with damage to my car or been accosted/ hassled walking around the area. I'd walk down Lumb Lane on a non match night and feel perfectly safe.

Bradford is as safe as any big Northern City, probably a damn sight safer than walking around anywhere in NE Manchester/ Ancoats etc at night.

Saying it's not safe, with no evidence, is just feeding the media/ BBC lies that Bradford is a hell hole.

You can indeed @Bigrod@Bigrod but given that there are a few decent pubs near "The Gardens", the fan zone entices you drink more and you can enjoy a pint of Guinness (or whatever flat southern beer you choose as an alternative) at your seat then I wouldn't recommend driving.

My bro-in-law is a big Saints fan and I'm looking forward to the next visit when Boris gives us parole.

That said, last time I fell asleep during the match whilst mid chorus of "Toby Flood, is a banker, is a banker"

That's it, turn the Bantams Bar into a fan zone. I'm up for that.

To be fair so is Rugby Union, but it still works at Northampton.

Absolutely, I just heard a program on Radio Four with millenials and generation Z's all claiming that their generation are worse off than their parents and their prospects are poor because of us. Deluded fools should get off their arses and work for it.

I too have parked in Manningham for several decades without the slightest problem, first just off Lumb Lane and latterly in a ginnel off St. Paul's Road. On one occasion my usual spot was taken and I had to park in a street nearby. As I got out of the car I noticed a huge bloke standing in the doorway of the house outside which I'd parked. He was dressed in traditional Asian gear and only needed a large sword in his belt to complete the picture of a warrior from the foothills of the Hindukush. He was looking unhappy.
'You going to City?' he said.
'Yes,' I replied with some trepidation, wondering what was coming next.
His face then broke into an enormous smile.
    'Hope they win,' he said.

There are areas in Leeds and Manchester that make Bradford look positively beautiful.
