Our fans must accept the fact that these big names will not look at us twice e.g Wagner, Pearson et al were in the doldrums of the Football League. One aspect that does favour us is we can create another Wagner through somebody who has the same philosophy as the board and they work together to get the club back to the promised land. Don’t get me wrong you might be able to pull a 9/10 once in a blue moon but most of the time you know your limits.

 

Look at the manager's who were successful for us. Trevor Cherry never managed again, neither did Kammy. Jewell was never really as successful again as he was with us, Parky did well with us and Bolton but not at Sunderland.

 

Take out an awful period at Ipswich and he's got a near 50% win rate. Some is non league, but you can only plan and beat the teams in front of you with the players you have.

Because most of the players will have been signed previously, When judging managers it is best to look at what happens when they sign there own players the season after but to be fair had an excellent win percentage

One question ? Today is Thursday, if he's got the job why wait until Monday to announce it when we have a match on Tuesday ? Announce it today, get him in and around the players/ dressing room on Saturday and ready to pick a team on Tuesday.

 

How, who would you go for - keeping it realistic?
I think we all need to remember there is a gamble element to all managerial appointments, particularly this far down the ladder. We just have to have faith Ryan will cover as many of the key areas as he possibly can in coming to a decision but lets be honest - whoever is appointed is going to please some and disappoint others. When someone posts 'I would take so and so like a shot' its not based on a great experience as to why or any real inside knowledge, just a personal preference

 

Yes Jewell did better at Wigan than he did at City. Kamara also managed again with a disastrous spell at Stoke

 

You've included the part season before at Shrewsbury when they weren't his players! You've then missed out his full season in charge.

That doesn't make any sense.

The only reason I can think of is that you're trying to make the guy look bad by missing out his best season as a Manager.

Read that clip on Wikipedia but it’s missed out the bit where he took Shrewsbury to third place in league 1 and lost in the play off final.
