If it is Stockdale he may bring in fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the squad. I prefer a young coach to has been such as Megson.

you'd also find a lot of people in football that would say similar things about Steve McLaren and he's terrible.

this might go really well, it might, and if it does I'll admit I was wrong but it could also be an unmitigated disaster.

 

So he's a great coach. Rahic running the show then cos theres no big sam about.

Totally agree it's a massive gamble.. All signings are, yes some less so than others.. However to say it's a terrible appointment this early on is as bad as those saying it could be a great appointment..

unispiring appointment yes you could say that but not a terrible one, time will only tell on that one

 

So just out of interest, the whole head coach v manager thing v rahic. Who will be pulling what strings next season? Curious as to how this works

 

I have no issue with Abbott and Rahic controlling the transfer side of things. Every transfer will be calculated and done for the mid term future of the club with our long time financial future in mind. Of course Stockdale (if him) will be involved in the process.

The thought of someone like Megson coming in and filling the squad with short term solutions is terrifying.

I'm glad there was no message board in 1987 when former youth coach Terry Dolan replaced sacked fans favourite Trevor Cherry. It would have been an avalanche of hate and vitriol. Yet Terry Dolan turned out to be a great success, you just never know what a manager/ coach will turn out to be. Just can't understand people who condemn a coach without as yet having been appointed ,never mind had a run of games yet. No doubt the Edin critics on here would have accepted Warburton,but who knows if he'd have been any good. Experienced Docherty was a disaster, popular choice Yorath also didn't work. Be patient the new coach may be a success.

 

So thats a change of how the club was previously run before.

Grayson has 4 league 1 promotions on his record but was heavily backed in all of his promotion seasons. What happened when he had to work with average players? He got average results. You do get the odd expection but generally managers are only as good as their players, and I still maintain that our success next season will depend on the calibre of player coming in, regardless of the the reputation our our headcoach.

Works the same way as most of Europe do it, and some of the Premiership clubs are now going (See Arsenal)

Nothing to get our knickers in a twist about really, but people hate change & anything 'a bit European' (see Brexit means Brexit) so will hate it despite having no idea how it works, have never seen it in action at Bradford but definitely know it is wrong.....
