That depends on the agenda. If the idea is to great a social and economic system whereby theres a mass, subservient culture of people who utterly depend on either the state or a handful of mega corporations, drilled into sheer compliance without thinking, isolating people so that they become nothing more than robotic work units, then it does make sense.

Sounds far fetched, and possibly is. But it's hard to deny that so much of the agenda prophesised by 'loons', 10, 20, 30 years ago - is playing out. We are seeing the mass removal of personal freedoms whilst convincing many that they should be grateful for it and not only that - that they should police it themselves. we're seeing complete tracking of movement and gradually, control of where people can and cant go, who they can and cant see, the destruction of anything like small and medium business while mega corporations flourish, the removal of cash and creation of a digital only economy. It's all happening right now, whether theres a sinister design behind it or not.

You're right. It does sound far fetched and I still can't see who actually benefits.

Quite a lot of the things that you say were happening anyway and would continue to happen over time without crashing the economy and killing people to do it. They could have tracked everyone in the country by tracing google maps anyway. Every single thing that could be a benefit coukd have been done in a much simpler way.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Without a catalyst of some sort, you don't get anywhere near the same extent or speed of change that we're seeing. If, as I say, it is by design. Most likely - we'll never know. Which is why I don't trust the mainstream media to inform my decision making and approach to living my life.

I don't trust the media either, not one bit.

And I don't think it's a case of agreeing or disagreeing on this one. I just can't understand the logic and for such a big conspiracy all the reasoning seems a bit woolly. We'll just have to see I suppose.

Its a crafty bastard, this virus. Easy to deal with though - just close the pubs at 9pm instead of 10pm, and divide which days they can be used on the basis of which letter your surname begins with. A-K gets Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, L-Z get Tuesday's, Thursdays and the Weekend.

The media are loving this. The media are using the negative to try to boost more sales.
T & A sell on negative PR and have for years.
I don't see the media wanting or trying to campaign for people to get back to their life and make their own decisions on things.

    Scaremongering bollocks for sure.

Yes, it surprises me as well. The Govt widened the list of those eligible for one and ordered 25million doses of the flu vaccines in order that those who wanted or needed it would have it before the flu season arrives, normally taken as Oct 1st. And something appears to have gone wrong in getting it to pharmacies and surgeries.

China have developed a vaccine apparently.

I am sure there will be a massive rush in the Western world to have that vaccine.

Government have now changed the rules regarding staff in retail having to wear face coverings. They have now said if they are behing screens they do not have to.

I'm not a fan of the nation-wide herd immunity cack that the government and 'scientists' initially came out with, but extremely low-risk professionals like athletes - can they not just 'isolate' while playing?

Minimise the numbers of backroom staff involved (if necessary) and crack on.

Burying our heads in the sand the second someone tests positive is going to achieve nothing but medium-to-long term carnage.

Football clubs aren't going to overload the NHS intensive care wards, so what are we actually scared of?

The problem with that is that they would have to do what the US version of strictly is doing (and I would guess strictly will follow the same as they are both made by the BBC) where they have all the dancers, celebs, hosts, judges and crew in individual bubbles with no contact with anyone outside the show and contact kept to the minimum with people on the show (Pro dancers who are married to each other aren’t even allowed to see each other outside of the show night and still aren’t allowed contact). Now that’s just from around the start of September until end of November, I would imagine they will be finished by Thanksgiving so no isolation from their families for the Holidays. With Footballers you are likely going to need to isolate them from their families for the whole season including a bunch of major holidays. And PL players may be able to afford to rent a second residence or book a long term hotel stay but can league two players or below?

That's too long termist for my liking - the first wave lasted from March to July in terms of three figure deaths.

That isn't the length of a season.

Given the advances that have been made in terms of knowledge of how to treat cases, identifying cases, and dealing with cases geographically as opposed to nationally, there's nothing to suggest the second wave will last longer. I guess there's an argument it could be worse, but I don't subscribe to that AT ALL.

It's over a century since an epidemic got provably MORE severe as time went on, and considering the advances that have been made in pretty much every area, I don't see it happening again.
