Pre season friendlies

What about the first half where in my opinion we were better than town who are championship team

 

Deep breath - 2nd half nowhere near as good. Towns kids gave us the run around for much of it (couldnt listen to the Town commentator for a minute longer having orgasms over his young terriers). Up front very little - Donaldson looks like a man on his last legs and pick any two from the three of them, there is NOT a partnership there that works. Ish looked bright for about 5 minutes but then out of the game, Wood with a couple of great recovery tackles, AOC cannot pass or cross a ball, Paudie trying to play the Beckenbauer roll but not with any great success. Cooke gave the ball away for their 2nd goal and Watt looked tidy but not a lot more.
So Stuart, please dont come out with they all got more game time in their legs - 2nd half we were mullered by a team which finished with an oldest player of 21! A lot to think about and I would suggest additions cannot come in soon enough -but no doubt we will get 'I'm comfortable with where we are'
One more thing - O'Donnells kicking hasnt improved, he cuts through the ball when he kicks it so it floats rather than any real purchase on it. Apart from that all is looking good

 

You missed the first half then

 

They are missing 10 players through injury and corona virus. They haven't played a friendly up until today and i wouldnt say we were better. Infact bar the goal i dont think we were very good at all.

I commented on the first half and said I enjoyed it - Park you need to look at things that are actually happening rather than just posting the same message everytime. That was NOT Towns first team or a Championship team, they had virtually a whole team out injured or unavailable. We matched the team they had out in the first half but the 2nd half we were outplayed

 

Agree thought Ismael was poor

 

Second half, we couldn't live with their pace and athleticism. Probably because we have none of it ourselves.

Novak and Donaldson abysmal.

Not a bad first half but poor in the 2nd half. A lot of the Town players who played in first half will be sharper than us in that they were playing championship football a month ago but we competed well. Disappointed with 2nd half against their younger players.

 

Their lad in the first half, kept thinking he was called Corona, was decent. They also had a young French player who looked like he should join us on loan.

 

No attacking ideas,and no pace,especially second half.DMH looked a lot better than Ishmael,but I though Watt was largely anonymous.Thanks to Huddersfield for bringing us the match for free.I thought the camera work was good,but we won't mention the commentator.

 

We played very well first half . At this stage of the season they are in training mode with double sessions and until today the longest they had been on the field was 60 minutes and yes against the fresh young legs second half we dropped off. If Guthrie had stayed on instead of Novak it might have looked better and we do need another preferably pacy striker. A mistake from an inexperienced full back and a deflection cost us the game but there was enough there to show we will do ok

 

A O'Connor cross in 2nd half was that bad I thought mellor was back

I think we played them in a friendly a couple of years ago and for some reason i cannot remember the score.

 

To be fair to the guy who called the game, Commentating isn't actually his job. He did a good job that considered.

 

First half. Thought we used the ball well and got players into good areas to create some chances. Guthrie looks so much more up to it and Cooke was better in a more advanced role. Still some worries defensively but it was good to see them at least try to play some passes and move with the ball despite Staunton's error - now is the time to get those out the system. Think there was enough shown in the first half to see why Stuart has been positive in his comments.

Second half showed that there should be a fair limitation to Stuart's positivity as we struggled with the pace, tempo and physicality of a largely U21 side. Cooke, Watt & Pritchard couldn't really get into the game and it highlighted the need for someone who can be a presence in the middle. We also quickly reverted to launching it forward and giving up possession.

Work to be done but good to be watching City again.
