I wasn’t questioning the value or use of ‘Analysts’. Having worked extensively in the investment banking industry I am acutely aware of the value of research.

Your insistence that you would do this, to a degree, from some sort of altruistic stance has me wondering.

You are in one if two brackets. But which one?

    1. Late in your career where the money you have made and invested is now sufficient so that ‘Money’ is no longer the goal of working or the need to work is no longer there.

    or

    2. Still young and early in your career where the thought of ensuring your investments (pension, etc etc) isn’t really on your radar yet (but hey it comes up pretty quickly!) so you are relaxed about what you earn.

I used to be no 2, never took a job just for the money (though the City paid plenty in the 80’s and 90’s) but when I hit 30 and kids came along that changed pretty sharpishly.

    So which is it?

Is that how far we have fallen? Fans wanting us to sign players released by Forest Green?

I think DMH and Ismail will be ok for us.
Ismail need to be looked after and probably can’t be a starter looking at his injury history but bringing him on for later parts of games when we need to attack will bring oppositions a few problems. the same with DMH, his pace later in a game will hurt teams and a full season with McCall might change him. He did a decent job with Marshal.

Yep. Clarke said so himself when he signed. Stuart wants him to play behind the front two so any time he starts it's diamond time.

Wonder if he might start bringing trialists in soon with friendlies starting? Never been more free agents at one time to invite down to training. I know he said they cant afford the £100 per test for trialists but just seems a bit of a naff excuse. Even Grismby & Cheltenham have gone public with their trialists, both had 7 and Cheltenham just signed two of them. Not bringing them in for £100 test reasons seems far too cheap a cop out, even for us.

Is that true about the test?? Did the club actually say that? If so then that is absolutey disgraceful.

https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18621792.bradford-city-follow-efl-advice-pre-season-friendlies/ From that article...... “At £100 a pop, that’s more cost even for them just to sit on the bench or come on for 10 minutes. It’s something we will look at carefully.”

https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18610946.bradford-city-mccall-rules-trialists-training-return/ From this article.... “I would normally look at one or two trialists. But I don’t think we’ll be doing that because we’d obviously have to pay for them to be tested and we don’t know their background and so on."

I totally get the background point with the current world as it is, but surely out of work footballers aren't totally thick? They'll surely be isolating as much possible to make sure they are safe for when the phone rings? And even so, do they have to go to the ground to be tested or can the club arranged for the player to be tested close to their house to reduced any potential contact? If tests are taken at the ground or an agreed club area, there would be no point trying to talk to anyone who lives more than 30 mile away.

In reality the club are talking about peanuts. Imagine losing out on a player because of £100... That would be a new low even for us.

Parker just put out an article saying we are in talks with two strikers.

McCall: “I’ve already spoken to a couple of players over the past week. Convincing them to drop to League Two is probably the problem. But we’ll keep banging on the door.”

That's worrying. They've said they don't want to drop down to league 2, why is he wasting time 'banging on the door' and expecting a different outcome? Why is he persevering with chasing players that have made it clear they don't want to be here? I thought that was the reason he finally decided Vaughan had to go?

As said in our chat yesterday Petrov, this could again be a McCall football 'generalism' which doesnt always come across the right way

I know there is a lot of negativity (just for a change!) on here since Vaughan left, I am just prepared to wait a few days to see what happens before wading in  I honestly think there is a lot more going on than is communicated and know
(as much as I can) that we ARE talking very seriously to 2 (poss 3) players - alas it is often the communication from the club that lets us down and feeds the forum frenzies!

Leeds United being compared with Bradford City, as has been said by @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart to make WyScout a sucsess the club have to employ a dedicated team, we are way out of that league.

Let's not forget the parasites of football, Agents.
Both players I assume have representation therefore if they can secure a deal higher up the football pyramid for their client they will.
Unfortunately all three parties have to agree unless the agent is stopped by the player from further demands.

Normally I would agree, but I think the fact of the matter is that in the next few weeks hundreds of footballers are going to have to lower their expectations in terms of wages and where they play, or else they will be out of a job. It is up to Stuart to persuade the players he wants that Bradford is the right move. The effects of squad size limits and the salary cap will be starting to dawn on some of these players.
