If we sell Wood, it'll be for money - which makes their comment about nobody paying fees in Div 1 & 2 utter nonsense. If we sell Wood it shows we're broke and have zero ambition. Stuart and Sparks will probably mumble something about not getting in the way of the lads promising career or other lip service bollocks, but it won't wash for most of us. Seriously, if they do sell Wood, it's about time someone actually sat down and told the truth, because the stink isn't just coming from James Vaughan in the changing room. It's coming from much higher upstairs.

 

Citys version does not line up with the Tranmere statement - worked through lock down trying to secure Vaughan services.

Stuart says he's talking to players (I imagine strikers) but he's having a hard time convincing them to drop to L2. This screams of us failing to sign said players, panicking and ending up with a Guthrie on deadline day.

 

They're struggling to find one wise man down at VP at the minute. Never mind three!

It is, but before, say he was on £200k a year (complete guess), that was rated at 68k as an existing contract wasn’t it, so almost as if 132k was taken out of the cap budget.
Presume now, that’s 132 that we can’t go on spend unless we still remain inside the 1.5m?

Then if we're struggling so much at getting players to drop divisions, maybe now is the time to use our extensive scouting network to identify and move on the best that none league has to offer. Those that are young, hungry, have something to prove and would love to make the step up... oh wait a minute, we have no scouts! It'll have to be YouTube vids and WYscout! Oh and we'd have to actually spend, that falls under ambition I believe... forget that...

 

Any of us on here that have had management experience knows the effect a negative person can have on the rest of the workforce.
If Vaughan was moaning around the rest of the team Stuart has made the correct decision.
I didn't see many of his games last season but I remember he spent more time complaining to referees than encouraging teammates.
Apart from his time at Bury he has hardly been a prolific goalscorer.

 

When have you ever heard the words "work" and Tranmere in the same sentence?

 

You see, with good seasoned pros to fall back on and learn, with a good backroom team, this is a direction I would be happy with.

2 or 3 solid players from the non league, with a grounding to bring in and further develop.

But I worry, we will go down the old route of trusted player's from the professional football pyramid in the form of journey men. 12-18 months later, repeat. That Imo is simply trying to stumble on success, without a real plan.

 

See, that is called a plan. It may work, it may not. If that is the plan then every last effort has to be behind it.

 

Just got back in and seen the news on Vaughan and the differing reactions to him leaving - all I will say is yes it is now up to City to show their ambition and that planning has been in place for this but whatever we do Vaughan was already (and would have been increasingly more of) a negative presence in the squad and therefore HE HAD TO GO.
The club is going to be scrutinised on this happening (quite rightly) but Vaughan going was a no brainer if he was not committed. Before we hang, draw and quarter Stuart as failing to get Vaughan to buy into his plans lets see what happens next - I have a sneaking suspicion today is not going to prove to be the worst news for us as a club going forward

1.5 million is the cap. You can spend it in any way you like but can’t go over the 1.5 mill. You are right vaughan would have only counted as an average which could be 68k I am not sure.
So we have only really freed up 68k in our salary cap budget but Rupp is no longer paying Vaughan’s wages so the club as a whole is saving.

 

City...ambition?....planning?
