Many are not backing him at all. Yes, they understand the situation but when you have rich people losing money. Unemployment going from the roof then only an over 70's person that won't have to pay for any of this will say he's backed. Even his own party are asking questions.

As for the economic side of things, countries that shut down early and didn't ignore this have done well economically and you also have to remember many countries haven't been giving out the bail outs that we have. Think it was Hong Kong that just gave every household 10k to get through this.

If you think the government have or are doing a good job then you seriously need to take your blue glasses off!

The over seventies seem fair game these days the latest is there the only group that this pandemic isn't going to affect financially. I retired three years ago after working until I was 67. Ive worked and payed my taxes for over 50 years. Ive survived slumps, recessions and astronomical interest rates to pay for various governments follies and failings. The over 70s now find themselves ostracised and in some cases treated as pariahs. 99.9% have done their bit for this country and paid their dues.

I would be surprised if we as a country are not ready for a second or possibly a third wave if they happen, I cant see the government not learning from past experiences.
With regards any economic recovery they would be very silly to go back to their default position especially when borrowing is so cheap, as has been said they need to bite the bullet and get the countries infrastructure going by creating jobs, anything less will as you say be a long drawn out experience which the UK electorate will not tolerate.
The last election showed if nothing else the British electorate arent afraid of changing the way they have voted most of their lives, so they have to produce during the term they are in power, Covid-19 has without doubt has been a massive negative going forward, and wont allow things they have planned.

One again not at all relevant to my post, but not unexpected.
No country will be "doing well" as you suggest, this pandemic is far bigger than the financial meltdown of the subprime fiasco.
Point out where I said "I think the government are doing a good job" once again making stuff up.

Our government has failed us! So please don't praise them or imply they're doing well because that's not the case.

35k deaths, financial meltdown like never before.. still talking about testing and PPE 9 weeks later... it's been an utter shambles!

I'll ask you again where have I praised them.
Now your agreeing with me, but unlike your comment some will come out better is fantasy, no country will be coming out of this pandemic stronger, apart from learning from mistakes and not to trust the Chinese.

No, they passed testing last week as they wanted the higher spec.

apparently Superdrug did have them on sale and sold out.

On the daily briefing the bloke said he wouldn’t recommend people use ones that are currently for sale as they haven’t been passed by PHE

    The way to go.....

A South Korean football club has been fined 100m won (£66,500, $81,500) for filling empty seats with "sex dolls" at a recent home match.

FC Seoul put 30 "premium mannequins" in the stands, with fans unable to attend because of coronavirus restrictions.

The club said they did not know the dolls were adult products and apologised on Monday.

"The incident has greatly insulted and hurt female and family fans," a K League statement said.

    Thoughts ?.

Covid-19 behaving differently in China's northeast clusters, expert saying
The novel coronavirus is behaving differently in patients in northeast China who have contracted it recently compared with early cases, indicating it is changing as it spreads, a prominent doctor said.

No new cases in london today which is excellent news. A shame but not a surprise to barely see this mentioned in the MSM.

It's meant to be mistake. Something wrong with the reporting data.

Northerners have to be extremely careful that this doesn't start turning in to a southernv northern thing.

Seems to me a mission to make London good. Journalists asking questionsto the government like such as since we're two weeks ahead of other places can we open up and you thought about regional lockdowns.

Goes without saying we want no infections in the country.

Didn’t even realise we had the ability yet to inform people of where new cases are on a day to day basis?

Last week London declared that their average daily case total was down to 24 and could be clear by end of this month, takes some believing I know and would be excellent news, presume figures are from ONS....
National figures for new cases ARE trotted out daily..
