This is what they could do if it is financially viable
No football till September/October then finish the season either behind closed doors or not. Take December off start new season in January with the teams split in two regionally as best they can with winners of each promoted and runners up playing off for promotion

I agree with you totally but every time I see an article on it online the comments are so dumb it makes my brain hurt. “They gave it to PSG” it’s our title yadda yadda yadda. I just think get a grip on reality. How will it be remembered when we look back? Thousands upon thousands dying every week and all they care about is a trophy for a season that can’t finish. Pathetic.

More breaks from football will not help anyone in the long term. Scrap this season. It’s done. Start afresh when we can with new squads new sponsors, new tv deals, new ticket money possibly etc.
We run the risk of making a total mess of the future survival of football in this country forever. Clubs going under and not returning and for what? Sporting integrity of the only the greedy who want a slice of the premier league pie. It stinks

Bit harsh. You can't blame clubs for wanting to be rewarded for putting in enormous amounts of time, effort and money into a season. We'd be the exact same if we were sat in the playoffs in the championship right now.

Plus they've got to safeguard the future of their own clubs. The financial implications of either staying in the same division, getting promoted or relegated are huge and have a significant impact on the livelihood of all the non playing staff that work at clubs. Rightly, in my opinion, they're looking after themselves.

Clubs will go under from this sadly, but I wouldn't be aiming your anger at clubs per se. The EFL and PL could right now make financial contributions in the way of low interest loans or advances on future payments to safeguard L1 and L2 clubs but the governing bodies are not fit for purpose meaning they won't.

Nothing was guaranteed when the season came to a halt. Every team were in a position to be caught by teams behind them certainly in the efl anyway. They could come back and lose every game left with a lack of momentum and some players having to miss due to COVID etc. Nothing is certain in football. You don’t get promotion until it’s mathematically impossible to be caught.

Exactly, which is why for sporting reasons the season should be completed. My point was more that you can't blame the top 6 clubs in each division for wanting to achieve something which is in sight, its human nature and at the end of the day they have to look out for their best interests before anything else.

If this season is to finish it has to be completed before end of August or so we are told. I would not be happy with clubs demanding it being finished at the detriment to the rest of the leagues and game in this country for some thing which isn’t guaranteed with the amount of games remaining.

By the next meeting the league will be cancelled. It is almost impossible to finish it with another 3 week lockdown as expected in the Efl. At that point we announce or sort a bail out package and save the game as we know it in this country.

if you delay it to finish it when safe, it will more than likely create a mess we cannot fix imo.

Can't take it anymore.....Amazing that @How@How this this virus is going away in August or September and this vaccine is just going to appear... utter nonsense!!

Football is a business and like all businesses need to find a way to get through this virus. If football can start in September or December then no reason why this one can't be played to a finish. NEXT SEASON ISNT HAPPENING!

Next season isn't happening if we can't get this finished!

Being reading this same old debate for the last few days and none of you have come up with a solution how next season starts! All just living in the moment.

The same issues claim that are around this season will be around next, so either put up or football needs to wait until a vaccine isn't found next year!

I am not sure I have said that this virus is going away or a vaccine will be found? Can you find me those quotes?

it has nothing to do with if the vaccine will be found or a cure. It is to do with the fact that the current season needs to finish by then. According to UEFA etc. Add to that the window currently is due to close at the end of August? Players contracts are due to end at the end of June. Around 800 in the efl alone I believe. Who is going to pay them if this season carries on? Are they going to want to play knowing they have no future deal tied down? You can’t force them.

you keep saying find a way and never come up with any ideas yourself. Not every business will find a way to get through this again, that is rubbish. I want football to be as protected as possible because it’s a brilliant set up in this country and the envy of the world. We have to protect it. The best way for me is cancel this season, bail out package agreeable to all and not forced upon us by the premier league as some are suggesting. Open the window immediately and let clubs find time to clear the decks and negotiate for new players.
But I’ve said all this time and time again and you seem adamant we can just make it work. Let’s just agree to disagree.

The same issues today will apply until a vaccine is found.

All this nonsense players don't want to play
    Play behind closed doors
    Social distancing.

Sorry mate but how and what changes in September, October or November?

When somebody tells me how it does the I will always think the season needs to be finished if not. Points per game.. teams promoted and relegated.

When you look deeply it's Micky mouse teams like Wesr Ham, Southend.. teams at to bottom that voice their concerns about this season because they want to to try benefit from no relegation.

The PL amen EFL should just come out and say we aim to finish by July 31st and if not it will be done on average points per game!

However, next season isn't happening if we can't finish this season.. the same objections will be there! Not going anywhere, unless you think you can beat the scientists in making a vaccine in 4-6 months!!

"City officials have recently been informed of the ever-growing possibility of supporters being unable to attend matches until 2021.

And it is now highly likely that next season will commence behind closed doors.

Should this be the case, the club will endeavour to ensure those who have already purchased season tickets for the coming campaign will be able to view matches - FREE of charge - from home via iFollow. "

So the thousands of potential ST buyers who have been waiting to see how their finances pan out before the deadline are to miss out on free home games on Ifollow.

Surely the club could have given some notice of the intention to suspend sales and driven a few more ££££'s into the clubs coffers? Think they have missed a trick here TBH.

That's a good point and I'd not thought of that angle. Hopefully, when sales resume they'll include similar provisions for access to iFollow.

I would imagine home games at least will still be offered on i-follow, not for free or £10 but somewhere inbetween...

Premier leagues call today and the solution is no home games and Remaining games to be played at neutral venues.

Who even wants that? What a load of old shite. Not even football any more. Get it binned off
