My guess is Red Rum would triumph at Aintree, but any other racecourse, Arkle would win.

Red Rum rightly a Grand National legend, however did nothing of note elsewhere.

Arkle won the Cheltenham Gold Cup 3 times and the Hennessy twice as well as winning the King George and Irish National

 

Arkle was the best national hunt horse to have ever competed.

Weirdly, races of Dessie, Red Rum and the likes of Arkle occur, not necessarily together, as a virtual product within the industry regularly around the Aintree and Cheltenham meeting yearly. Though I do not recall, the 3 running together in such a product.

As for today, I'm on 8 and 18. Purely as these are the dates this month I would have been celebrating (in their entirety) my sons 21st birthday and walking my daughter down the aisle. Lump, throat.

I've said more than once I think the season will just end but I don't think it will be voided. Lpool champions, next few places to Camp League or Europa, no relegation with Leeds and WBA promoted.
Below that an interesting piece in Yorkshire Post today as to how the lower Rugby Inion leagues have arrived at promotion and relegation, Harrogate promoted despite being outside a place, Rotherham relegated despite being outside a place, all based on a formula which clubs have accepted. On that basis we will remain in L2, no play offs. As I've said I think new season starts 21st November. Two teams up from NL so first game Harrogate Town away anyone?

I hope it’s sorted in a way they can all agree and not this law suit central football seems to have become recently. Clubs writing to governing bodies about other clubs. It’s a desperate situation.

One thing I think clubs are worried about is behind closed doors not giving clubs any income but risking players etc. Are we not cutting our nose off to spite our face if we finish this season no matter what?
For the sake of 8-10 games for most we are sacrificing the riches a full completed season brings?

I also don't get the Harrogate thing. It's making no sense.

Harrogate are in a play off place.. so if they go up then why can Fulham for example?

The season will get finished certainly in the PL and I just can't see the PL saying yeah more games next season due to extra teams being in the league when they is the ACON, Coppa and Euros. It's not going to happen!

You seem set on the midset with ending the season when no one cares about next season and the fair thing is to play out this season no matter what. When? It doesn't matter as we just need to finish the season.

Oh and I would rather Fleetwood away then Harrogate because I would still have hopes of us getting into the play offs this season and going up via them.

 

Simple Park. Unless the season is voided, i.e. it never happened, then it finishes, even if it finishes with not all games being played. Finish means finish, completed, thus all payments are due. That being the case and if it were to go to Law the Law would rule as I've stated above.

 

How can you give champions league and europa league spots to clubs that currently occupy them when not every team has played the same number of games? Not to mention there being a half a dozen sides who could still finish fourth, as only 8 points separate 4th and 9th with 9/10 games left. Not a chance it ends like that.

 

Think you would find Harrogate are in one of two auto places if you look at the cut off in all published League Tables. Reading the local weekly paper yesterday, their Manager certainly thinks that is the case and he should know. Additionally, as I said in another post, my info is that they have already got quotes in for ripping up the 4G pitch and putting grass down so make of that what you will.

I think the best way to "finish" the season would be to give every team the actual average points per game earned to date and multiply that by the number of games left.

So we are averaging 1.46 points per game x9 would leave us on 67.14 points or if it was agreed to remove the decimal points and round up to 68.

If every club agreed that then it would be the fairest way to resolve this.

Yes that would mean the league tables would stay the same but the season is ended.

 

The longer it goes on though there is no easy answers to this.judging by what O’Donnell says in today’s T&A the players are not keen on playing behind closed doors

 

Only 1 team goes up automatically from that division. The other is down to play offs so being in 2nd currently is a play off position.

I know some of the players personally and they want to go up on their own merits. They want to finish the season like most other players.

Harrogate as a club have money now and then improving their ground is no shock.
