Away vs Cambridge United - Sat 15 Feb 2020

He has been back for 3 bloody games for gods sake - the patience (lack of) of some on this board beggars belief. He is getting to know a very ordinary bunch of players and yes he will make mistakes along the way but it was his first away game. We are going to have to be a bit more understanding of the situation he is in for the remaining 12 matches this season and not slag him off every time he gets something wrong!

 

People with a good education might want to become a school teacher and have no money but that's up to them and I respect that.

I know people that can't spell and make load money.

No one is marking peoples grammar or spelling on here apart from @bradnotbradley and @The Original EB no one cares!

 

Not sure how this is one of the reasons it is harder for a club like ours to get promoted when we have one of the best home records in the league?

Edited to add - 69% of our points total has come from our home games. I think it's pretty clear where the problem lies.

 

I think the people that are overreacting are the ones getting their knickers in a twist about posters that are daring to suggest McCall made the wrong substitution at the wrong time yesterday. I think he made the wrong call, I don't see why it is a problem to say that, whether it is his third game in charge or his thirtieth. It doesn't mean I want him sacked or I don't think he is doing a good job overall.

 

Maybe pal just think he would of at least made the bench by now.

 

Yes it's difficult to understand why he can't make the bench.

 

Think the frustration lies with the fact we were quite close to getting 9 points from his first 3 games but fell short in last few minutes of 2 of them....

This IS NOT scapegoating Novak but on 33 seconds in he should have done better with his shot, and looking at the Pritchard situation 99 times out of 100 that would have been given as a foul against the lad.

 

I agree that Stuart made a mistake and I have actually said so. However, I will not be climbing in big style like some fans who didn’t support his appointment in the first place. He doesn’t get a free pass and we are all still hoping he can find a team that have got some fight in them that can take us up. If not he had my support for next season.

 

And both the Grimsby equiliser and yesterdays winner coming from our right hand side.

 

Maybe it is the fact he is a bit of a hot head? We can barely play with 11 on the field never mind 10. However, I think Stuart will use him, and has mentioned him. I think he is struggling with such a big squad and wanting to be fair to all the players, and trying to get a result from every game, no mean feat.

 

Fair point Tony. I think it was the wrong call to bring Paudie on yesterday and to be honest he has been one of the biggest disappointments this season, if you look back to the summer when he re-signed I think many of us thought this would be one of the key additions but sadly not. But I dont blame Stuart for making this change, it was his first away game and our away form has been abysmal, so aiming to protect what you have is not a daft call. But we all know the negative decision to add another defender has not worked this season with this bunch of players - Stuart will hopefully live and learn and react differently next time we are in this position

Calling him for making the wrong change is one thing, calling him by saying he hasnt learnt a thing since last time (as some have) is another

 

If it’s the case of money, perhaps Rhodes and Rupp should write down on the back of a fag packet, what the basic sums are of a) getting promoted vs b) paying a nominal fee to let Devitt play.

Stuart must surely have found out by now, that we don’t have creativity in our midfield, and Akpan and Pritchard aren’t the answer. He’s sussed out Anderson, Gibson and Devine, I wouldn’t put Devitt in the same basket as those guys.

 

Hi How. OK, it looked to me though as if Pritchard was taken down from behind and I immediately thought "Foul Ref"!!
It also seemed as if the ref let too many dodgy tackles go (for both sides) but one in particular, in the second half was when McCartan??? seemed to be scythed down just inside their box when cutting inside from the right..
To me (at least!) that was a penalty - or maybe I'm just biased!!
Anyway, it's all about opinions, isn't it?

 

For some reason our defence seems to weaken when Paudie comes in and we go to a back 3/5.For both their goals they were in clear space to be allowed to shoot or turn the ball in.

Clearly we are not zonal marking so that leaves man to man. And that wasn't happening either.
34 games in to the season you would think they could have resolved that but no.

AOC seems to have gone to shit as well over the last 2 months.

BRE seems to be punching above his weight.

Henley-jury is still out though both winning goals in last 2 games have come down the right side.

I can only think the players are so low in confidence that they are not performing like they are capable of.

 

I agree about the game management. We should by the same token have suffered more injuries. We might not like it but that’s how the game now is having learned from Mourinho and Drogba.

 

I take your argument regarding points we've
attained at home this season but my point
is still valid regarding teams "wanting to beat
us more" because just looking at the performances
we've been lucky to scrape the points most games.

Played.

 

I think Henley’s weak throw ins are a liability in general.

 

I had a friend at school who was practically illiterate, left at fifteen, made a million out of scrap metal all on his tod and retired to the West Indies at forty. I was better than him at English and I eke out a pension. Just saying!
