I'm not tiptoeing around anything. I was happy with McCall's appointment and still am, but will not shy away from stating I firmly believe he was the reason we lost today. I'm still absolutely fuming about that substitution.

 

Have you been in a coma since we went from being 10 points safe in the playoffs?

But if you read through the posts and listened to the Radio Leeds commentary team there is absolutely a sense of avoiding open discussion about all of the things that lead to the defeat. The poor substitution and tactical naivety. Which by the way has been a hallmark of McCall managerial career.

 

Understand where you’re coming from but I’d take that way around every day rather than Bowyer who defended from the start.

I do thing the subs created a negative mindset for us and we should have held our nerve for longer. Our away form will inevitably kill our promotion chances this season.
The next 4 or 5 games will see us drop out of contention in my opinion if we don’t sort it out. It’s make or break time now, if you look at the next set of 5 fixtures

 

Stuart is right it’s what we didn’t do in the first half when we had the weather with us that lost us today’s game.
However reading this thread some of the same people on here call calling for mass clear outs and the like we’re saying all season that we had a team who should “Piss this league “ funny what a change of manager does for people’s opinion

 

Oh yes, sorry, don't get me wrong I posted earlier it was probably our best first half since Salford. I mean I dont see many games but from listening every week and watching today we started on the front foot and did well. Problem was the players didn't have enough in the tank to get through the second half and the subs were wrong in my opinion.

 

He could have kept the 4411 if he had pushed up O’Connor into midfield and Paudie at the back. It would have provided a bit more of a solid midfield. I am not going to condemn him for a tactical error he hasn’t had time to assess this flabby squad.

Yes he did, but who else did he have on the bench or even in the stands that could have held the midfield together? Rather than change the system.

 

Pritchard for Middleton. Akpan was tiring for sure but better to keep him there just to get a foot in.

 

We did not lose because of the officials. We did not lose because of Stuart. The alleged foul on Pritchard was on the halfway line. Ten strikers on? Ten midfielders on? Ten defenders on? It doesn't matter. The lad should not have got anywhere near our penalty area.

 

Or tell Paudie to sit in front of the back four. But not a back five.

The Paudie sub cost us that game no question. Put us further on the back foot and lost a man from the midfield. Flashback to that walsall away game when we threw away a 3 goal lead and McCall made a similar silly substitution. Shot ourselves in the foot after a first half we were the better side in.

First half and second were polar opposite. Second half we suddenly couldn't pass the ball five yards and started launching long balls to Novak who I thought was appaling today. Vaughan or Donaldson would have been able to take us up the pitch and win fouls.

Overall weak mentality in that side from back to front and it will need new players and a full pre season before that will change imo.

And the less said about that ref the better. Absolute joker and clearly had a home win on his coupon.

 

You want Akpan to put a foot in? Don’t we all, in fact I would have appreciated throughout the match.

 

Out of genuine interest when Paudie came on he replaced McCarten, who I believe was not playing in midfield, how did the substitution create a gaping hole in our midfield when no midfielders had been removed? The formartion was 5-4-1.
Where is the gap in midfield?

 

There is no promotion team in this squad, it's garbage, generally people are happier now Stuart is in charge and I am, but would we have achieved less points under Bowyer from these 3 games? Doubtful. It's time to suck it up and stop hammering our manager until he has his own team, which with SmC is going to be next August.
