McCann seems to have shortened in the betting market last night.

I’d be slightly underwhelmed if he got it but obviously have to give him our full support

If true about this markle bloke, we're essentially appointing a youth coach going by his history, with his only first team jobs coming in the German 2nd, 4th and 6th division.

I'd be very disappointed if someone like this got the job and would only heighten my fears that edin isn't bothered about promotion so long as we can sell a few kids on.

Difference is Wagner was essentially Klopps number two, during that reign, they got to a Champions League final.
Bit different from where this Markle coaches at

Wagner was manager at Dortmund II and worked directly with Klopp, slight difference from working for Stuttgarter kickers II and 1860 Munich

If i were Edin and Stefan i would look to change the plan - their philosophy hasn’t been accepted and has been widely criticised. I’d take the same route - get some kids through sharpish, sell them, make some money, take my investment (and a tidy profit) out of the business and bugger off back home. Not exactly what they had planned but business plans need to shape and evolve and this seems the quickest way out without losing their initial investment.

Roy Keane looking to get back into management, could you imagine if Keane became our boss and when playing Joey Barton's Fleetwood we would need an ambulance on stand by just for the dug out. We would probably have a sell out just for the fight , but seriously would you have Keane as manager. He's had some success at Sunderland getting them promoted from the championship but struggled a bit in the premiership. when he resigned the players celebrated because of his strict way of dealing with the squad. He had an average first season as Ipswich boss but was sacked for a bad first half of his second season in charge.

well he'd be better than an unknown German but he's not quite a Warburton is he.

still, it could be worse if its McCann.

You're largely comparing apples with oranges

Initially, your group were League 2 and with the exception of Wells and Darby established at either that level or higher

The current policy is vastly different. First this is League 1. Second, now we take untested players in terms of the level we are aiming for as opposed to McArdle and Reid - who were proven at a higher level. Totally different policy to previous -which is why it is so mistrusted

So these players should be judged as to whether they will improve and what their limit might - rather than writing them off because they had a mixed season (whcih when you consider that all their senior colleagues (apart from Killa) hardly led by example isn't surprising) and not taking out that the potential for anyone to learn and improve

Wells is actually a good shout. At first he look nothing better than OK and then had some good matches - but still often got rested etc and that was in a stable environment with a manager with a plan. There was a serious debate as to who was the best between him and Ross Hannah!! Ridiculous now, but at the time you could understand the question. He was then a different player in 2012/13 etc

It's the narrative, that apparently the current 'youngsters' will never get better that is short sighted. But that illustrates what happens when you make a major change in policy anywhere - fear of the change, results in negativity

Even so, presumably you think that Reeves, Robinson and Wyke are OK - so already then, at worst we're optimistic about three players. If we could produce three potential cash cows, each season, then that's pretty good. And there is no reason why with time and experience the system won't improve

I believe in the current way of doing things, so haven't said it's wrong

The players you mentioned are spread out through the years. It actually shows how poor we've been that in 35 years, we've produced ten players and some of them never made it to the Top 2 divisions

My point is we shouldn't be so down on ourselves. We've made a start with 'yoof' and it's a reasonable one to such a degree it could, with the correct coach and new players, fair wind etc get us into the Top 6 or higher

It is an interesting comment. I am not particularly disagreeing with you, do you mean the overall performance of the club in 35 years, or just in relation to the development of youth?

I wasn't comparing him to McBurnie. I was pointing out that this so called 'happy clapper' thought McBurnie was useless (which actually makes nonsense of your 'happy clappy' description) and realised that this was wrong. That tells me and I've seen it in my motivational workplace environment, that significant change for the good can occur

But it's wonderful that you with the great benefit of hindsight, saw that McBurnie would be a revelation in The Championship . I take my hat off to you. Tell us which of his league games for us, did you get that impression from? Or does you time working abroad improve your ability to predict the future?

There was nothing in McBurnie's play to suggest that he would be this good - he looked like Bambi on ice. I was delighted when Swansea were foolish enough to pay that for him - or so I though as it now looks like great business

And that's the point - you might arrogantly think you know it all, so you knew McBurnie was great and Brunker isn't. However, clearly there are coaches out there who if allowed to work on these players, even if they are older, can improve them significantly. So if McBurnie can improve substantially, why can't Brunker be anything more than a L1 clobber? He's already shown improvement. Is it going to stop now?
